i'm looking to upgrade the bridge and nut to improve the sustain. I'm using a strat. Any recommendations?
how does the different material of bridge and nut affect the sound? steel , brass and what else do we have?

Consider changing the trem block. Go look around on TGP, lots of threads on it.

As for the nut... well... if you fret the note, would the nut matter?

as for me, i believe that the nut do makes alot of diff to the sound even when you are fretting it as eventually the strings are still connected to the nut and the vibrations will still reach that area. Get yourself a clip on tuner and find out which part of the guitar does not vibrate when you play a note. So yes.. for me it matter..

Next, bridge and saddles are like the ultimate mod you can do for your guitar. zinc, aluminium, steel... material of bridge do reflect a different sound too.. I relly on gotoh :P

i prefer graphtech for nut and saddle choice. They are really what they claim, especially the slippery part where it allows ur string to glide smoothly back in tune after a bend or when tuning a guitar. Their teflon material also spreads the stress evenly and gives a totally different dimension for the guitar.
