well, an EQ is a nice tone shaper, but do you really need it?
Look at the pros ard you, do most of them use eq pedals?
Also, how good an EQ works depends on your settings, totally on your settings.
The Danelectro F&C is a nice pedal for the dough, cheap and good. A nice beginner's eq.
How to properly use an EQ? Well, move the sliders sparingly.
You've been playing for some time now, so I don't think you are the "gain on 11, treble at 8, mids at 1, bass at 11" kind of person.
Personally, i feel that EQs are really meant as an on/off effect. When you need it, turn it on, otherwise its off. I am against the idea that you must have an eq on ALL the time... its like your room is very cold, so you wear a coat all the time. Why not turn off/ raise thermostat of your air con? The root issue would be your guitar, so it doesn't make sense to me, to plonk an eq there to cover up all the time.
