I known some playas who use it as treble boost for solo...so it still works!

My Boosty offers Boost(vol), Gain, Bass and Treble with a very high clean treshold. Those two eq gives the versatility using diff dirt pedals before and diff amps after ...... sorry for the self promo

Most playas now prefer boost set for high mids towards treble with slight breakup to tame spikes. Thats why the germanium transistor based *rangemaster* style is brought back from the dusty shelve !

But its becomes more of a stand alone for overdriven tube amps of choice rather than a high threshold clean boost for pre dirt pedal of choice....

So it boils down to two schools ...
1)op-amp based with limited clean threshold (may gate if pushed by another dirt pedal before)but good for bright amps as it tame the spikes well ...
2) transistor based with higher clean threshold and much transparent but may get spiky without a high cut for silicon types.

So far the boosty is the onli pedal that make me feel contended with my ac30cc, tho i dont own 1 yet lol. tried my fren's one, n its SUPER!!!

Great for drving the tube amp, its not abt the gain of the pedal, but abt how magical it pushes the amp, which is v super unfrenly so far with the various pedals that work well with a fender clean amp. Its was really v frustrating until i tried the boosty.

The mxr microamp is more subtle, but the boosty is real kick ass. Esp when u get a treble n bass knob each, u can choose to shape ur overdriven amp tone dif from ur clean.

with other amps, i like the stock sd-1. I mean there r lots of better n more expensive pedals, but for its value n how it sounds stock... i like it

i currently use a DS-1 boost OR a sahasrara OD. Depends on my taste for the moment. Most of the time is the OD because it offers a clearer tone for me. not gonna mention my secret weapon distortion though hehe.
