Boost crunch tone

I see. I haven't tried it yet. I will bear your comments in mind. I didn't know it needs an adaptor, though I know it sucks batteries.

.......... I've yet to test the ts-9 re-issue but from what I've gathered from some who have tried it, they say its over-rated.

Dude, the ts9 to me, was the box. And after the mod to fix its bass sucking badness... it was THE box. ;)

How much are the TS9, TS7, and TS808?

Oh not to forget, TS9dx. Sorry to borrow this thread Vai.

Expect to pay ALOT for the TS9 and TS808 reissues. Like $250.

And even more for the REAL deal... 2nd hand.

IMO, the best deal is the TS9DX since its got 4 modes thus more versatile. :) There was a thread that had a lengthy discussion on this. Do a search...

1. What amp are you using?
2. Do you wanna get the crunch from your amp or crunch from boosting another overdrive/distortion?

In my head, CRUNCH is defined by overloading a tube preamp-ed amp. A booster will come in handy. Commonly available ones.... Boss GE7. Set it flat and boost up the volume. Clean boost. A real clean boost rather than getting a TS kinda pedal reducing the drive, boosting the volume just to get "CLEAN" boost. Of course the overtones are nice but calling it clean boost... man I got issues.

There are other clean booster pedals like Zvex SHO, Catalinbread Chilli Picoso, MXR Microamp etc and it'll work.
