blind man in a bus

i was standing in a bus yesterday and awhile later i saw a blind man board the bus..he walked straight to the rear, just behind the alighting door and stood beside a school boy who was sitting down and a lady sitting beside him(im not mentioning the sch name here, but it is a well known sch)

3 ppl actually got up from their seats to give the blind man their seat.2 of them were mid- aged man and the other was a mid-age ang-moh lady.the blind man got seated in 1 of the seats.
as i looked at the boy,he just ignored what was going on and listened to his music.and also,to my surprise, the lady sitting beside the boy was his mother as i found out when he called her..
now..what is going on here??

The mother did not even care that her son did not give up his seat to the disable..

is this what is happening to our youngsters these days?
some are good i have seen, but some are just plain dumb..studying too hard to become lawyers, doctors, directors and land in very high paying jobs only to lose their morals and values.
but i also blame the parents for their non involvement in educating their children about basic values and courtesy

well, all i can say is.....thats not what i wanna be teaching my kids...

come now, are you really surprised

compare us singaporeans and say, scottish people (i went scotland on holiday :) )
they may be technically more 'dumb' in our very narrow perception, that is, lacking in PAPER qualifications.
they make a hell lot of a nicer neighbour though.
people on the streets, even though i'm a foreigner, i am received warmly and even asked if i am enjoying scotland.
even though they have less diplomas/degrees/whatever entitles you to be 'smart'
they are more polite and considerate than us
i conclude that its the way of bringing up the children
in singapore, all the parents are very paranoid and teach their children how to survive in a 'dog eat dog' world. i know a kid from my p6 year who purposely lie and give false help to his peers so he can do better. when i asked him why, he said, 'my parents teach me'

humans are selfish by nature, yes, but we singaporeans (no offense to the minority) are generally the extreme breed

and everytime i see singaporean that invented some stupid thing i will laugh
we have doctors and scientists and lots of 'smart' asses but we can't seem to invent something ORIGINAL and good.

too true. People tend to do things only for their own benefit in Singapore. In the army... It happens all the time.

one day I had to go for a medical appointment. So I went to the office and asked the COS to pass me the book-in/book-out book. Mind you, he was sitting there, doing nothing at that time. When I asked, he ignored me. I had to ask him 5 times beofre he rudely shouted back vulgarities and asked me to do it myself.
Goodness, the book was just at the drawer next to him and he expects me to go around a few tables just to take out the book? And its HIS responsibility to do it!

And this is one of the MILDEST acts of pure selfishness I've ever seen

Honestly, don't be surprised that Singaporeans are very selfish. Everyone thinks its a dog-eat-dog world out there and do anything and everything to backstab each other. I think most of us have seen it personally enough to udnerstand

That said, one word of advice.
People may be slefish, but that doesn't mean you have to be selfish as well. If you can, help out other people. If people ask you for a favour, be willing to help them.
However, just make sure you're not been made used off by them in that case

That is why it is important for us to keep doing good things. Just keep doing good things. Just keep doing good things.

Hmmm.... today I shall buy food for my in-laws and spend some time with them.

One more thing, can people please stand BEHIND THE YELLOW LINE and not in front of the door!?!? Especially around the town area.

I was at the NATAS travel fair yestrday - long queues. Jam packed coz they had the babycare fair next door to the travel fair.

A mother pushing her baby's pram accidenty hit the foot of an elderly man in the queue. The man shouted like he was hit by a car or something .."My leg, my leg"

The mum apologised immediately but the man in turn shouted "What sorry?" The women again repeated and said he should give way to babies in prams etc... Again the man raised his voiced and said "some unmentionables ... including the word stupid ...

Nearby - Meciacorp Ch 5 was interviewing ppl in the queue .... Another elderly man was grumbling loudly while being interviewd .. queue so long lah ...bla bla - really losing it to the camera crew who eventually cut it short & abandoned the interview.

IN MY VIEW MANY SINGAPOREANS HAVE BECOME SPOILT, EGOTISTICAL, IMPATIENT HUMANOIDS. THE ELDERLY DIDNT HAVE ANY COURTESY (in my mentioned cases) .... NOR DO THE YOUNG ..in the case of the boy on the bus ...

WE SEE SUCH PEOPLE THINKING ONLY ABOUT THEMSELVES IN EVERY POSSBLE EVERYDAY SCENARIO.

IT MAKES ME SICK TO THE STOMACH ........:mad::mad:

Basic social courtesy is going down the drain with every passing day ..agreed with the post that in many other countries, basic courtesy is much better than in SG!

KIDS WHO READ THIS - TRY TO EDUCATE YOUR PARENTS WONT YA? Parents reading this - educate your kids ...can or not?

We see such scenarios happening all the time. The most obvious ones is at the MRT tracks: people not giving way to those who want to alight, n what do these idiots do? They stand around and purposely block those who wanna alight. This is one that makes me angry whenever I go to work.

If I was the one who alighted and saw these living things crowd my path, I would have just walked thru and if I hit somebody, I wouldn't care...:P

I don't think Singapore is as bad as it seems.
Sometimes people wanna help, but theres this 1-3 second lag cause they are 'paiseh'.
Does that make sense to anyone?

P.S I just helped a drunk guy back on his seat after he fell off twice on the bus. When he fell, two SINGAPOREANS, a singh uncle and a young chinese lady immediately ran forward from the back of the bus when he fell to ask if he was okay.

+1 Karma points to them each.
+10 for me ^^

the ones who really cut you while waiting for the mrt/bus really are annoying..
they must be in a rush to go to work early and talk lots of cock and not be productive at all i guess..haha

ive even seen ppl act blur when pregnant women stand infront of them in the mrt or bus.

the truth is yeah..we do think of ourselves and it`s not wrong.i do that alot myself..but sometimes its good to help someone when they do need it more:)
even the little things like giving up of seats is good enough

but at the end of the day,it all boils down to individualism...

I would have just walked thru and if I hit somebody, I wouldn't care...:P

I do that almost everyday.I could not care for their feelings as they could not care for mine.

Given simple instructions(Countless repetition of "Please stand behind the yellow line" or "Please move towards a less crowded area...") these people cannot follow.Sometimes these people need to slow down on their lives and look at what they have done.

Yesterday back from Clarke Quay, Took the Night Rider back home.
My ezlink had insufficient money. So I asked for a small change from the other passengers. Surprisingly, One good gentleman had some smaller change. He passed it to me.

Singapore is still good.

Then one uncle wants a stick of ciggs, i passed him one altho i left 2 sticks to go home and smoke. LOL! :)

Ps: Just telling not to brag. :)

pregnant lady hard to get seats in the mrt everytime. singaporeans are so selfish honestly to say. I am a singaporean and hate singaporeans attitude.

some old people think they deserve to be given the right of way...and they complain the younger generation aren't courteous enough. talk about bad role models. i think young people are generally not as selfish. but like you mentioned. kids will be kids. and those auntie stereotypes most of the time won't give way. so i'm not that surprised.

but i think singaporeans from about 16-35 are pretty courteous. and save a few others...we can't generalize everyone now, can we?

lest we forget:

1) buffets.
2) running for the mrt seats from train to train
3)impatient drivers blaring their horn when there's a 1 second delay
4) seat hoggers
5) table reservers
6) serial complainers with the word "CASE" or "LEGAL" mentioned when they don't get their way.

U guys can cut & past this and add to this list .. I'm sure there's much more ...
