Ok since i am familiar with whats goin on in both...let me say this >>>
the stacked transistor type (simulating amp overdrive) is awesome for single note didly didly didly and drivin a sluggish tube amp but tend to get brittle for chord worx....op-amp drives does an allround trick but deal with the mid hump and has that warm touchyness rounded feel.
Havin both types cascaded at low drive gives that clean > crunch > high gain ....now whose the rock star WOOOTTT
