big muff mod

i have the nyc re-issue big muff, and would like to mod it. although i do not want to lose control of the tone control, instead I want more bass in it though, so any suggestions on what mods I should do? Because I've done abit of research and most mods are done to the russian muff.

im not too sure. its a pity most sg musicians dont really like the BMP as their main fuzz. but I can vouch for that pedal, alone or with an overdrive infront of it.

digimon, how did the mod affect your pedal? I was thinking of modding my pi for more clarity and bass, but not losing the crunch.

Try the Whizzer Mod.. it's pretty amazing.. the Muff's not going to be SOLELY a muff anymore.. But it's everything from CLEAN-CRUNCH-FUZZ rolled into one.. Hard to imagine? Too good to be true? Haha.. try one out! I did.. and it kicked some of my boutique ODs of the board.. both spacewise and tonally.

creamer dreamer cost me abt 40 bucks. its just a mod that gives a treble boost at 10 and bass boost at 0 on the tone knob. more usable tones but still not for me.. hope it helps.. muffs are one of a kind but they're a little bit difficult to content with when playing lead

Jskadiang; I've had several muff clones with 'extras', but nothing beats the mojo of having a piece of the pi. in other words it has some sentimental value that rather over the top waste of space, fuzz.

hmmm I see you are quite the no frills guy. Haven't seen/heard much about muff mods. Maybe you wanna look at the older versions of muff? like rams head/triangle, etc. Muffs never worked for me.. I sold mine to get the Monsterpiece NPN fuzz. Sweet, man!

Hey there.. got mine off ebay where he sells it.. I think he's been using the Russian muff cause it's easier to mod.. But as you know the Russian Muff's are discontinued.. and so he's working on modding the NY version now. =) Drop him an email.. billy47@comcast.net.

btw if i didnt get the big muff modded, you think an EQ would do any good? if yes, name me a few, although I was looking at the Danelectro fish and chips. Anyone can name me any value for money EQ?

The creamy dreamer mod is quite good. but if you are looking for smthing that is muff and more, think Dinosaur Jr, early Pumpkins sound, you might wnat to take a look at Frantone effects. They were involved with EH during the making of the big muff or smthing like that. Their Peach Fuzz and The Sweet Fuzz rocks....

Have you considered the BYOC Large Beaver (triangle) from TYMC. I have this version. Put an overdrive/tubescreamer in front of it, you'll get a nice thick creamy Pink Floydish tone. Youtube and check out the lead tone on Comfortably Numb or On Turning Away to get an idea of the sound.

ooh, didnt know that frantone dont have dealer locally now.

I still have the sweet and peach fuzz gotten from the previous local dealer 8 years back. Those fuzz pretty much suitable in a band jamming setting. Playing in a bedroom setting, the sound suck donkey ballz siah..

the funny thing is that for byoc, he was actually making booteek pedals round 6, 7 years back. It prolly didnt make too much for him. His break came from doing BYOC, after dropping his own line of effect..
