Hi All could any of you advise what is the best value entry level cymbal pack I could buy? and where can I buy them?

I am ok with 2nd hands but need to be complete set as I have no cymbals now.

Thanks

zildjian zbt from yamaha, though i'd rather get the b8 or hcs. anyway sabians from sweelee, meinl from ranking sports or music theme

Do not get the ZBT or HCS packs.

B8 or PST3/5 if you must stick with the big four.

If not, go turkish, seriously.

Alchemy ART's pretty decent. Drop them an email and they'll deliver to your doorstep. Damn good service if you ask me. Bought a couple of Agops from them and so far I haven't been disappointed not one bit.

for me, the best entry level package is Sabian B8s. It really doesn't sound that is an entry level cymbal set, ofr it's price. I would choose this over ZBT since they are in the same level.

that's for me...

actually i find pst5's sound like crap, personally. i haven't heard B8 or B8pros yet, so i have no comments. but i'd recommend ZBTpros. The hi-hats sound good, and the ride is also good. the crash, though, isn't recommended. the ride is VERY pingy but i wouldn't advice you to crash it. if you have to get anything, get the hats - they're worth the buy.

Music lab is selling the turkish moderate set. 3 piece handmade cymbals i think. Really cheap at $450. Beats your ZBT/ZXT, solars and whatever anyday. Go check it out.

But left a few sets only

i agree. however i realized many drummers in singapore like the crash the hell out of their cymbals. not taking into consideration the thickness of the cymbal (i've seen people using thin crashes for metal, cracked in less than a week), and thus resulting in the cymbals cracking very quickly. i'm not sure but the turkish cymbals may not be able to withstand heavy crashing for too long. that's why i would suggest more durable cymbals like ZBTpros..but then again it's up to the buyer.

Oh i have a qn abt cymbals! =)

Are thin crash/ fast crash suitable for rock? any kind of rock.

fast crashes are for rock and heavy music due to their short sustain so you don't get a whole pool of sound. because the music moves quickly, the crash should just come and go quickly. for jazz, softer, and slow ballad type music you'll need longer sustains and more tonal wash so that you can fill up the empty spaces and also make the music more spacey and smoother.

thin crashes generally are used for jazz and smaller settings due to their washier characters. and also if you crash too hard on thin cymbals they are going to crack very easily. more so extra thin crashes.

Oh ok thx for the info =D so im spot on =D i hv always had my eyes ( or ears) on fast crash =D and im the rock/ a little metal type =X

Hi bro, i highly recommend u to get the SABIAN B8/B8PROS, it's really considered a very good entry level for new players like myself.

I just got myself the B8 crash set, consisting of 20 ride, 16 n 18 crash and 14 hi hat. Sounds incredibly awesome IMO.
