best single coil sized pickup?

heh, swimming pool cavity. You can do a nigel tufnel "spinal tap" pickup mod on it... Like this

Ahh... Mr Horsepower...

swimming pool need rerouting? or just solder like normal? but then again humbuckers should have more wires right? compared to the sss setup i have

swimming pools do not require re-routing as it's just a rectangular block of space beneath the PG so you can do whatever you want there haha

Fender Usa Vintage Noiseless Pick Ups - No Regrets

u meant single coil or r u refering to something else? coz he wanna oasis kinda tone if i m not wrong.

and thanks whitestrat for ur suggestions on pedals to get a little closer to the oasis tone.

how much would it cost me to add a push pull switch? assuming i only have 1 tone and 1 vol pot at the moment and i wanna ADD 1 more tone pot if i change the bridge to a humbucker, making 3 pots.

the fender vintage sgl coil looks like, sound like and rocks like a 57 pup but its actual a stacked mini humbucker tailor to replicate the sound of the vintage pups. For more midtones, U cud also try the fender hot noiseless pups

actually after thinking about it, im more inclined towards a full sized humbucker for more versatility in future. but as fgl should know alr, my guitar is a fernandes retrorocket x-1. SSS config with a swimming pool route. however, im having trouble getting a HSS pickguard to fit it as it only has 2 knobs at the moment (1 vol pot and 1 tone pot)

my question now is, suppose i bought a standard HSS strat pickguard with 3 pot-slots, will it be possible for me to add one more tone pot to this guitar just to fill the 3rd pot? i have no idea how much new wiring would i have to change if i did this as i assume that the previous config was master tone and master vol.. and also i would like to change it to a push pull coil split.

is this all reasonable? and how much will these things cost to install?

OR if someone can tell me where i can get a 2 knobbed pickguard with HSS config, ill be more than willing to stick to two knobs and just turn one of them to coil split

gosh whats the use of a swimming pool if there aint no pickguard for alternate configs

fgl, i m a little puzzled. u r saying that the fender usa vintage single coil is actually a humbucker disguised as a single coil, something like the seymour duncan Classic Stack Plus STK-S4? OOOooo... i didnt know abt that.

if thats true, then some of the mij or cij fenders that use the vintage usa pups r actually humbuckers? or the vintage usa pups in the fenderjapans r a different type of pups?

I dunno man... I was a HUGE believer in this noiseless thing. Even the Fender Vintage noiseless pups are real nice compared to many out there, and I was on Kinmans. I tried EVERY set and finally settled on the Traditionals and the Hank Marvins as my favourite sets. Spent a sh*tload of money as well!

Then one day, I sat down alone and played for hours on a set of custom 65s on my friend's CS 66 Firemist Silver Closet Classic... There's this very malleable difference. It's like the notes jump out at you even before you hit the strings. Then when I stumbled upon a nice Shoreline Gold Custom Shop 65 Relic, and took it home on the spot. Why? Only because it had the 65s in it too. (you can't buy those pups. they come with the guitar...)

I can't define it, but it seems like adding an extra coil, dummy or not, stacked or not, kinda eliminates this very organic feel to the tone. I really don't know what it is. All I can think of is the fact that an extra coil not only cancels hum, but at the same time cancels out some white noise frequencies which adds to the organic tone. After the first set of 65s I've owned, I've hunted for a set of 69s, and never looked back.

To this day, I own 1 last set of Hank Marvins in my black strat, but that's only because of the tonal shape I get from those...

No, I think fgl is talking about Vintage Noiseless pups found on CS models and some artist models... Not those USA Vintage pups in CIJs...
