Beginner packages !

Hey, i went to davis guitars recently and i asked for a bass starter pack. he showed me a sx bass and a small amp with the other accessories for 250sgd is it worth it ? Or i should get a decent second hand bass and second hand amp ? Or should i go to sweelee to buy their package, my friend brought his ibenez bass pack there for 500sgd. my budget is around 0 to 450. THANKS !

There are several bass starter packs available. I think SweeLee also has a Squier Starter Pack which you might want to have a look at, though I have no idea what the price for that is or whether its still available. You might also want to look at the Craftsman basses from City Music and TGM basses. The only problem with those brands is that they seem to have a lower resale value but I've played a TGM bass at a friends house - seems quite legit imo.

Personally I bought the SX starter pack about 6years ago when I was first experimenting with bass. I still have the bass, though I hardly use it (mostly for sentimental value). Mine served me well, and I think the SX starter pack is indeed a good deal.

If you choose to buy second hand you might be able to get good deals on slightly better basses. But I guess ultimately you have to think about how you'd like to manage your cash and how far you believe you'd go with the lowend.

I'd go with the Craftsman basses over SX though. They seem more worth for the money

yeah craftsman basses are really good for the money. probably has higher resale value than TGM or SX. actually i would recommend Squier or Ibanez if you dont mind paying a bit more, really good starter basses. depends on the price too.

hmm.. maybe you can say that swee lee's stuff are overpriced. but to say it scams.. its kinda inappropriate. Swee lee always has sales to bring down its price. =)

yep! scam is a bad word to use bros.

ok, for starter package, if u really want those budget type, u can go to any cash converter n get a used bass for 150 or so, and an amp for 50 or so.......
