Baybeats thoughts

oh..that was a good read. :)
looking forward to day 3 review.
appreciate the good work.
there's lots of other people as well and ron from blueprint is one of them. :)
keep up the good video work dude.

my fav performance had to be allura.

tight, powerful, and just pure rocking!

another was giant must fall....

alamakk regretted i missed the first 10 min..

but the show, sound songs were great!

lastly fire fight!

first time i saw their show and definitely wont be my last!

love the drummer and vocals!

Ypu forgot about the cool solo bass line from Barker from Train Song....Never fail to make me groove man...

You also look cute what while prancing around during ladeda heh heh... :D

Anyways, great show by Allura inch, just to let ya know

i thought that the overall musicianship of the local bands at baybeats was way way better. but!!!!! theres something lacking. really really something lacking. good sound crew. the sound man for most local bands sucked. if you noticed . blind side's soundman was fanatastic. everything was balanced and you could hear everything properly. I urge singaporeans to develop better ears. haha. whats good music without good sound crews ? then you won't be able to hear the entire band. then local bands would suck.

Any thoughts on the Portishead sounding band from Indonesia? Everybody Loves Irene....

Also agree with Kevin's thoughts on some of the kids just being there to mosh.. no matter what the music. I was at The Lovesong's set and a couple of kids in front of me were just walking around ... whispering into each others ears.. conspiring to mosh and body slam people around them... even if the music was generally unmoshable... tsk tsk tsk

Agreed. The sound could have been better in general. B-Quartet's last song was slightly marred by a nagging high-freq feedback =\ They're geniuses, still!!

I must say that the moshing got really a bit too dangerous at one particular band's set. To the extent that some tried to climb over the fence to get out of the mosh pit (sounds like a certain Italian football game)...

And I thought that The Arena was quite bad, ergonomically-speaking. No good to stand sideways on a sloping ground for too long (e.g. hurting legs/back) -- am I the only one who feels this way?

The turnout for this year was very heartening though. One up for local music!

B-Quartet.

hands down. they have been doing their bestest since every show they have done. oh i hate to repeat but Raj and Man, you guys did a good job for that show too!

:)

i thought some bands were good, but the showmanship was really lacking. they obviously can sing and can play, but the stage antics were too "rehearsed". its almost as if they were doing it because its what "indie" bands do.

i thought KingKongJane were really natural onstage. They opened Baybeats at Powerhouse, i think. Maybe its got to do with their gigging experience. Huge crowds=more scary=more self-conscious.

Its hard to play well when u're feeling self-conscious. (Yeah I'm Miss obvious.)

I'm pretty surprised that noone mentions about Urbandub, In my opinion they're one of the few that cast some good memories. Is anyone impressed by them ?

anyway i didn't saw king kong jane . but i thought that monofone's antics were nice. but the singer is abit in terms of playing antics. haha forgive me if i'm blind. i'm only human. i agree with blueshoes.
