Battery Life Of An Active EMG Pickup?

Hello soft-ers.

To those of you who own axes with EMG 81s and 85s,

How long does the 9v battery last? Lets say i play an hour a day.

Cos i don't want to change my battery freakin often hah.

Please tell me how long it lasts on average?

Thank you! (:

I heard it lasts about a year, since active pickups, although battery-powered, actually use very little electricity at one go. But it depends which battery you use... A good battery should last a while.

That said, I personally don't use active pickups, so maybe someone who uses them could give some insight here.

not to hijack, but do you think its a worth to install emg 81 or 85 to my ESP LTD M-50??i would like to have better tone and maybe sustain...thankz

battery for EMGs can last very long, but remember to plug your cable out when not in use. consider Seymour Duncan Blackouts, they are like the new "in" kinda active pickups now

My 81/85 is still doing fine for the lest two years...
I always unplug the cable after I finish playing...

i agree with harrison.

emgs are nothing without a good amp.

might wanna consider blackouts. i hear it is more dymanic and if you got good tonewood, it will sound a lot better than the emgs as the tonewood is alot more important when you use blackouts than emgs.

my emgs have lasted for at least 3 months now without having to be changed. I play average of 1-2 hours a day. Just remember to unplug ur guitar before u keep it.

So it lasts rather long.

But i have to take the cable out of the guitar everytime?

Not very convenient ):

Im using a 60 (neck ), SA (mid) and 81 (bridge) on m ibanez.

I installed a 25K push pull pot but wiredthe push pull pot as a battery on /off devise. That way can leave my axe on stage while still plugged in between sets etc

THERE IS NO WAY TO TELL

It depends, heck even the temperature counts.
How long you play
do you remove the jack
which brand
How old is it
hammered before
used before

there is NO answer to this question.

at least can arga arga what. roughly a span of a few months to years depending on how well you really "maintain" the battery life. at least dont have to spend like $3 a week or less just to change it. if it wastes time and money than whats the point of getting that pickup?

one thing to note, I dont think that duracell and energizer makes a difference in tone though.

I feel bad for hi-jacking but i'll make it a short one
wooo seems like got so many emg plos err i've seen vids and reviews on emgs and im kinda attracted it, i was wondering since emg active should be rather costly is it a good choice to get emg pups for a RG350,and can a 20w laney bring out it's potential ?
