Bands that change their style

but it's quite interesting to noe that at every turn of the decade, there will be something like a new movement of music.
like 70s was the disco. 80s was the rock 90s was grunge and 00s, well i've no idea.
haha

00s is the decade of Hip-hop/R&B and how accessible it has become.

Ironic that back in the 80s, Hip-hop was basically an "underground scene" whereas Rock/Metal was the "mainstream". Now it has totally reversed...

Tool changed from Grungey Angst to Alternative Metal to some sort of Spiritual Rock/Metal. They still kickass in every albums.

NIN changed alot. Pre-with_teeth and post-with_teeth. Pre-with_teeth was when he shined out the most with emotional sounds and lyrics, very dark period. Post-with_teeth, Trent started more experimentation with sound and such, which can be a hit or a miss. If I were to choose, Pre-with_teeth era was awesome, but their live shows are always great. Heck, it's just the work of one dude.

Rammstein changed from simplistic repetitive Industrial, to a more complex themed Industrial after Reise Reise. Awesome change.

Queens of The Stone Age, changed from stoner (grungey and heavy) to psychedelic party band. It might have been through the input of Troy. I love both QoTSA eras anyway.

Oh yeah, and Chris Cornell, from Rock God Vocalist, to F***ing sell out.

ohyah..

slipknot also changed when "all hope is gone" came out.. i don't really know how to describe the change. they included more guitar solos, not as agressive drumming from joey..

but lyrically, still the same, i think.

Lol. Have you heard master of puppets with an orchestra? Made you feel gay too?

on the contrary, i feel that the orchestra makes certain parts stand out.
maybe it's just becasue i'm too used to listening to orchestras and symphonic/power metal.

but i felt the original version the sound is too narrow, like the spectrum of sound is damn limited.

but i think score is the best live albums for me. haha.
although dream theater sounded more mainstream in their latest album, as in they sounded more poppish and less metallish, although still progressivish.
HAHA.

ai ya thats different wad. ITS METALLICA ( AT THEIR FRIGGIN BEST) BABY! a7x cant rlly be compared to metallica la, to put it nicely =)

kinda agree on this point, especially after hearing some songs from his new album, sounds more like one republic to me haha, but then again, he could just be trying out a new style...

does anyone actually really think of why they made those changes?
this thread has been listing out bands that have changed their style.
but why? why?

ERIC CLAPTON - from blues to pop to pyso rock to country to R & B to blues to commercial aor

I would like to add that Sum 41 changed their style. Mainstream pop punk after the departure of Dave Baksh.

actually.. i think most of us just listing the bands we know that have changed their styles.

and i think, we can't answer the question why as the bands themselves know it.

Yea, some bands obviously do tell their fans why they've changed their style, but not many do that. I reckon most of the time, it's just how things pan out in the studio, how the band members lives have changed.

i've always liked ATREYU but their recent album very rock. not so much metalcore. the positive thing is that they didn't transform completely like other metalcore to mainstream kind of bands.

Previously posted by zullio. I'm enjoying the album eventhough of the change.

What are your views Against The Enemy?
