Hi fellow softies,

Some unhappiness that I'm writing to share so you guys know about it. It's regarding an advert for a sale of a rare Ibanez guitar posted by a member called changbeer shown today at the advertisement section. The advert is as follow:

Rare Ibanez S540LTDSOL for sale
Posted On Feb 26 2006 By changbeer

Upon contacting him via sms, my first question to him was (no editing done, exactly my questions and his replies)

me: Hi saw your ad on ibanez s540. Are you able to provide pictures of your guitar first?
changbeer: No pic u wan go mikeman studio c
me: Let me consider. How's the condition like first? 22 or 24 frets? With shark or mother of pearl oval inlay?
changbeer: U wan go n c lah dun msg me anymore
me: You have such bad attitude. Forget about the sale then.
changbeer: Fxck u idiot
me: I will have this posted on soft to let people about your attitude.
changbeer: Fxck u cunt i post on soft too let ppl noe wat a fuckin cunt u r

That was the sms conversation I had with him. Is this how a person who is genuinely interested to sell his guitar behave?

And lastly, because of this conversation, I made a search on the previous adverts and found out that he also posted the same advert on 21st feb with a price tag of $1000.

So is the guitar really what is made to be?

Well I dunno much abt Ibanez guitars but when I read ur post, I`m extremely disgusted by this changbeer`s attitude...the seller must at least provide details n all..can`t beleive he said all tat...

LOL

Yeah, that's a pretty bad experience I'd say. Anyway, the dude's profile shows that he hasn't made any posts at all, so I don't think we're suffering from a SOFT community standpoint ;)

erm how come his guitar over mikemann shop? his send it over for a new refret or?

anyway check ifs it lo-pro and the neck, if its alright, then its alright i guess.
omg lo-pro, i only got one original edge hehe

Believe me when i say i was equally dumbfounded to receive his 2nd reply. It was really a turn-off.

I had certain questions to ask him actually. Because this guitar was supposingly custom made by Ibanez in Japan, the stock pickups should generally be QM or IBZ in HSH config but his was tone zone so I wanted to know if there were any other modifications done as he didn't specify. Also because of it being custom, I was hoping it's a 24 frets instead of 22.

But anyway, there's no need to find out anymore.

i am thinking maybe this changbeer is one of the guys at mikemann studios in balestier area. actually in yahoo auctions, mikemann sells his music equipment pretty often too. don't really remember their yahooID, probably called mikemann88. usually they exchange deal with buyers at the studio or near the studio. saw their ratings before, mostly good, seldom poor. check it out, u might see the guitar not sure :D maybe this changbeer dude was in a bad mood when u happen to sms him at that moment, or maybe hundreds of softies sms him at one go ahahahah ...cheers peace :D 8)

More coming up!!

Guys, CHILL.

That guitar is real. It belong to Ray, mikemann's partner (or former partner). Correct me if I'm wrong.

If you go to mikemann's webpage, you can see the Ibanez there.

Don't know how it looks like? www.ibanezregister.com and search for the model.

While I do not agree with the $800 price tag, despite it being "rare" (in Singapore) and in "good cond" (for a 7 - 8 yr old axe) .... I guess, people have their bad days.

I believe we all know of people who sms/msg/email, basically, when they type, they type in a very dry (tactless) way, which often gets misinterpreted as offensive. Stillwater comes to mind.

Cut the guy some slack. Its a real axe. Its been refretting @ GC a few mths back.

It doesn't matter whether the guitar is real or not. You just do not treat an interested buyer with a high and mighty attitude like that.

Just me two cents worth.

While i have to agree and say that this changbeer guy is a real f**khead, some buyers themselves are reall kids.

I mean i know its in Singaporeans to bargain and stuff.... but some folks or shld i say kids are ridiculous in gg all out to get a really cheap deal and then pull out when one thinks that one shld just give in to the younger poorer student population.

I mean to working folks like meselff, that few hundred dollars less is nothing to me, its the attitude that counts. If i t hink you are a nice fellow who is sincere abt buying something but really can't fork out enuff cash, i can settle for less cos i think that that fellow will at least take care of the piece of gear etc. Then soem of them turn ard and stand ya up.

Otherwise, they have this nasty attitude of asking abt things which really pisses peeps off. at the end of the day, private sellers are letting go of gear not making a buick or profit, buyers shld remember also.

Well, so it takes two hands to clap, the less we have of these idiotic sellers and childish buyers, the better!

With regards to inquiries (esepcially via sluggish SMS), i think it'll be a good idea for interested buyers to do their own research on the seller's products, instead of swamping him/her with 'lame' questions. Most sellers who know their stuff would also naturally think that the buyer dosent know what he wants and is probably wasting time, especially when an elementary question is posed i.e. 22/24 frets if theres only one type in the world.

correct. do your own research and dont ask stupid questions.
"custom made" on an s-series guitar doesnt mean anything, and all s-series's other than endorsee custom models have 22 frets. its not a particularly rare guitar either, and 800 is way too much.

but yes, that guys attitude is really fcked up..however, mikemann studios, no big surprise there.
