ATTN fellow SOFTies: this is absolutely ridiculous.

No man is infailiable, no man is perfect. It is tough to manage a forum that is growing so rapidly. He's doing all this in his spare time. James created this forum to help the local music scene, not to control our thoughts or speech. He does it out of good intentions. But he has to be concerned too if postings get out of hand and may risk legal complications, and worst if the forum gets shut down because of this.

I am sure we all benifited alot from this forum. Selling of gear, getting info, finding band members, promoting our music and etc etc etc

I am posting this not to suck up to James, but to remind us all not to let all the hatred and negativity get too out of hand. Let's try to calm down abit.

Levan has presented his side of the story.
Now let's wait for James to explain.

What??? I cannot believe you have been banned for good, sound advice. When working with wood you should always be careful when using a saw!!! you could cut yourself or even worse, lose a limb!!!

And you are spot on, unless your vacuum cleaner has good suction how can you possibly get all the wood chippings up??? They can stay around for months!!!

A grave injustice has been done here! Levan should be rewarded for making the world a safer place!!! :)

.......on a serious note, bit of an overreaction to a harmless joke by Levan. I agree with censorship in some forms (though not as many as some) but this I feel was definitely unwarranted.

I've already tried but, just like multiple times before, James suddenly goes silent. He seems to only respond to waving his magic Internet wand around. Other than that, he keeps mum while exercising his authority.

When I first saw the title of that wood thread, I got an idea of what Levan posted although it has been removed. IMO, it's not a big matter and it might have been blown out of proportion. Innuendos of kinky jokes are actually subtle things that either 1) don't make any impact whatsoever as people ignore it or 2) lifts the forum from being too monotonic and draggy.

I'm not taking sides but Levan shouldn't have been banned because of that and we're not actually sure if James was the one who banned Levan in the first place as it could be any moderator in soft.

I advice people not to side anything or flame anybody until James replies this. Don't worry about this thread being secretly deleted cause if this gets deleted before anything is resolved, this forum will definitely be in chaos.

Yes, I've said many times on these forums that I genuinely applaud his efforts and his dedication to SOFT. Nobody takes that credit away from him, and it is fully deserving. Hell, I even paid for a party to be thrown in his name in November! If that doesn't show that I am appreciative, I don't know what will! But when does it all get a bit too self-conceited? Does it validate his inconsistency? I edited my original post on this thread to illustrate such grievances in this (Page 1)

For example, if a government lowers taxes, does it give them a right to toss an innocent man in jail? If a government creates jobs, should they have the absolute right to fire people? The answer is no, though it doesn't take away from what they've done previously.

Like I said, I don't mind being banned if I have severely infringed upon the rules and tossed up something that might get SOFT into hot waters. But the fact is, I didn't, and anyone who saw the 'Working With Wood' posted by someone else will likely think so too. It's really nothing, and it got me a ban.

8 years of posting to get this kind of crap?
Not for me.

well said +1:)

Woah bro

To think you were the one to start the soft gathering supposedly to be happening with james as our guest of honour later in november..guess its gone down the drain..

Maybe theres an explanation to all of this..? Have to await more news from the mods.

This looks interesting. James if you even read this, please I hope you publicly respond on this thread, without altering the other posts or deleting the entire thred. Change the preconceived notion of softies that this would be something u do without fail.

Chill guys, we have to give James some time to respond. We've heard only ONE side of the story here. I'm not shooting Levan down (In fact, dude, I've always loved your posts and respect you for everything that you've done that definitely has directly or indirectly helped me along the way), we have to hear both sides to "make a judgement" But in ANY case, who are we to make the judgement?

We're all fellow friends here, lets not fight and squabble no more yeah?

Also, all of us are human and also err at times. Only God is infallible. So lets forgive and forget when we do find out who is slightly at fault.

Meanwhile, we should hold our horses. lest we come out the red-faced ones. (Learned this from Jony, wise saying that has probably kept my mouth shut and kept me alive.. I'm a rather frank person. haha)

ok, i was the one who started the wood thread, sad to see that small question has resulted in such an incident. roninriot may have given nonsensical (even offensive) replies, but im not really bothered or offended, since hes just trying to be funny. but thats only me, there may be others who were really upset bout what he said?
james has to be responsible for the forum's content, i believe there are many people who are still very young, viewing the forum so there should be some sort of control over whats being posted.
i agree that a ban may have been too harsh for something like this, imo, a simple private warning would have been enough for both roninriot and james to understand and be understood.

Do you, as thread starter, agree that there have been FAR harsher, cruder and more explicit content running around on SOFT here than the joke - which frankly, most who are young would never even understand? Has there been content that has been far more questionable regarding politics, rude insults and jokes that have been more blatant?

Did they get deleted or did the users get banned?

For those curious, the joke I made in response to 'working with wood' was 'Wow...'working with wood'...sounds kinky! Don't use a saw!" and various others that inferred to it without being explicit.

Levan

WJ:

My humble opinion is that neither your question, nor Levan's response, caused this situation. The problem is that the system which governs this board is inconsistent and flawed.

wait. i thought soft wasn't suppose to be so "Singapore". The "fine country", if you get what I mean. Sometimes people have to realise that MAJORITY WINS. This is so like the IR incident the last time because most didn't want it in Singapore but hey, it's being built -.-

guys...maybe should chill for a while...n wait for james' response first?
we don't even know why levan got banned yet...or do we?
maybe some levan-hater hacked james' account n banned him? maybe this maybe that...maybe let's just stop these assumptions first...n wait for his response on this...

it's still such a pity tat levan got banned =(
