Anyone tried a DiMarzio Fred before?

anyone? i've been wondering about it, since the fred is similarly compared like the breeds, to a PAF Pro.

If i got the money i might fork it out and slap it on the neck  wondering how that interacts with a super distortion on bridge.

listen to joe satch he uses a fred in the neck if im not wrong..from what i heard from friends its rather muddy and fat.

Its in the bridge.

One thing... though I dislike Satch's neck tone... I find his bridge tone very crunchy with a slight "awww" to it... Something like a tonezone but not as over the top.

Satriani now has a signature humbucker in the neck (PAF Joe), as oppossed to the previous PAF Pro, which i find very lacking in bite.

I tried it before. If you want to play clean and scalar runs it is good becauae it is not fat. I think good for HSS guitars.

If you want fuzzy hard rock rhythm or want more warmer tone go use PAF Pro or Breed instead.

i have the dimarzio FRED on my guitar neck position pickup. its quite bassy but is very clear as long as u have the correct settings on ur amp (dont put so much bass frequency and it should sound very clear).. its output is also medium-high so it would work well for shredding. and if u turn down the volume knob or reduce the gain it also has quite a nice crunchy thick sound. hope that helps :D

all right guys, thanks for the replies... heh can't wait to try one out.

andrewtheshredder: ya happen to have a clip of the FRED in action? pretty curious as how it sounds, rhythm and lead.
