jacinth, there are quite a number of threads on the topic that you are asking. maybe you can check them out? if you have more specific requirements, do post them.

hmm the behringer one at luther seems real decent for the price(about 200+) davis has a starter set as well at the same price range heard its not bad as well
but whats your budget? you might wanna look ard for a second hand set in the classified ads might land yourself a good bargain

the grx40 or grx70 ibanez jumpstart ..

i personally started off with the grx40 . .its a gd guitar for beginners and has a fairly strong tone .. nice.. check it out at sweelee .. around 300 plus 400

er, onli problem is the plywood body? according the the squier website, they use agathis for body wood, and imho, a "pure" wood body would definately be better than a plywood one, and the tonal differences will be noticeable, no? ^^

any reviews on the squire starter packs?
I bought the squier strat pak and it was terrible dont buy. btw u might wunna get a 400 dollar Epiphone Sg from Sweelee :D

alternatively, if u dont mind getting some 2nd hand stuff, u can always check yahoo.com.sg auctions and luthermusic class. ads for 2nd hand deals, some of the stuff are like, the owner played for a few months or so, got bored, toss into storeroom kinda thing, so the condition is still not bad. might be cheaper too, until u know what u want from ur instrument then get a better one?

but then again, there are those who say get a good one right from the start, so essentially, its up to u i guess ^^

the Squier starter pack comes with the Affinity strat which i used to own. it's once a plywood make but now it sports a solid make. but i still find the tone & feel lacking, the reason i sold mine off. if you wish to acquire a Squier, get at least the Standard model.

Hmm.. Is there a Washburn Starter kit?? I heard they are quite good.. :D :D

yes, sweelee BB road ... think it's about less than 400/- ? guitar + amp + some other things.

if im a beginner the price of my first ax definitely comes first, wouldnt bother much bout tone actually

you should give equal billings- try avoiding something that's too cheap & lacking in playability (it's as good as not buying in the first place, because everytime you play, you just wanna put it away); try not to get something too costly either, if this is the case, you can save a little more & acquire a mid-priced guitar instead. i doubt there are any such units these days, unlike the situation a decade ago...

yupp:D i dont mind getting a second hand but of cuz first hand is always better ! lol! my budget is abt 400-450 at most...so if i were to get a reali good guitar, it'll have to be a second hand
