erm..so is there any bands which under Indepent record labels
did actually went for tours

lots of bands have been touring neighbouring countries, be it known or unknown bands.. Plainsunset toured New Zealand before, my precious toured Japan before, force vomit toured malaysia and played infront of thousands of people (i saw it in youtube, MINDBLOWING!) and bands in the hardcore punk scene have been touring around before, in fact ALOT of bands are touring around, even without a label..

it's all abt contacts with the people outside of singapore..

and plus, (i'm not quite sure what you were asking but i assume u were asking, is there any bands which have a lifespan of more than 5 years?) there are bands who have been in the scene for 5 years and MORE! u just have to support them to keep em' going, i hate to say it because of redundancy, not because i dun like them, but plainsunset has been going on for 9 years now, u shud noe them, don't you? and stomping ground? alot dude, alot..

in my opinion, the singapore local scene is really growin rapidly and that's good news..!

anyway, is there any particular reason why you are asking?

take it this way underground singapore is thriving why havent we noticed anything?no media coverage..we have no mainstream rock coverage that's why singapore havent really cracked the bigmarkets.

I don't think it's really rude. you genuinely wanna find out something. heh. yeah. the singapore music scene is really growing. especially for the past few years with the government being more supportive and all. suppose it's a good thing.

No doupt its growing faster but its still growing slowly imo.

We need to do something about it and by we, i mean us. We can discuss about things here, but a plan/discussion remains merely as a plan/discussion until something is done about it.

High inertia to start vs high benefits once started.

D.I.Y bands without RECORD LABELS and travel around is the hardest part-time jobs

you have to load you stuff to your tourbus
the unload your gears when you reach the VEnue
the re-load back your gears into the tour bus>>hahaha... to me< it's a blast if im able to do this>>

Agreed the local music scene is indeed growing and gaining more govt support.

However, while we celebrate these achievements I feel that local musicians need to push themselves harder and set higher standards for themselves. Keep breaking the boundaries keep tearing down the walls to ultimate success. We should not remain contented. Not with the situation we are still stuck in. Hard reality that Singaporeans still do not consider local music as mainstream and Singapore bands have yet to make a significant mark internationally.

That said, going on tour is a great way to gain exposure and widen ones audience. From touring, bands are able to get a feel of what it takes to expand their musical frontiers outside our sunny little island.
