Any acoustic guitars to recommend?

Yeah, I've decided to stop air guitaring (as much as I kick ass at it) and actually pick up a real guitar.
Do you guys have any acoustic guitar, under S$400 to recommend? A no frills, pure acoustic will do.

Yours sincerely,
John-Mayer-in-the-making.

check out those Samick accoustic by Gregg Bennett... i tested one of them for my fren.. not too bad.. considering the price of less than s$250

but a word of advice.. when choosing an accoustic... try to get a solid top if u can afford it.. it ll grow with u...

yup, there's a good samick at Davis that is a solid-top for only 220. my friend got it as a starter guitar too. i felt it had a warmer, deeper tone than the entry-level takamine he was eyeing initially. and the takamine cost abit more, 250 i think. And the samick has a nice matt finish so you dont get ugly fingerprint marks on it. Try it.

try craftsman from city music. Don't know if they're still selling, but they are/were good stuff! go give it a shot.

as far as small budget high quality products are concerned, Maestro's one of the best... their guitars have a high quality : price ratio...

imo, much better + cheaper then yamaha acoustics... very...

i tihnk its the Takamine G-series you are talking about.

made in indonesia. $185 - 225... ( forgot price )

very nice sounding guitar for the price. agree on the low action.
good buy.

Mucho thanks for the feedback guys! Really appreciate it.
I took time to try out the guitars you guys mentioned and more. I considered all the price ranges, sound and playability of the guitars and in the end, I got myself a Cort Earth 100 for $320 at Swee Lee. Soundwise, the guitar has a deep and full tone but yet has a lot of clarity as well - which I really like. Plenty of punch and volume but not muddy at all. It's got a solid spruce top and mahogany sides, back and neck. It's comfortable to play too with a nice action and with a neck width that feels good in my hand, not too thin or wide. I found it to be the best of all the guitars that I tried. I just ‘felt it’ when I first played it. I don't know much about Cort initially, but most of their acoustics sound pretty good to my ears. A pretty good deal for your money if you’re on a budget and not too concerned about ‘name’ brands. :D
