One thing though, I find his compositions too... "improvised". I get tired listening to too much of him, sometimes, just want that composed composition kind of vibe.

But he's good. Has a peculiar way of doing runs....

I actually saw the Ibanez 90th Anniversary show on Youtube. Three guys performed which included Andy, Paul Gilbert and Steve Vai. I felt Andy was the better one among the three compared. His runs are more tight and more melodious in the execution. Vai was bad, but Paul was just OK. Paul was playing riffs similar to his instructional video. Take a look

Oh yeah, in that video, Timmons was better.

Vai can't improvise well. He said so himself, and that he prefers to play his own compositions.

Paul was off form. Dunno why, and he sounded out of tune.

Yeah..It is sad that Shawn Lane is gone. Never got a chance too see him play. When he was WOWing the guitar world with his skills, I was just trying to learn how to place my fingers correctly on the frets. :wink:

Big big fan of the man here, I'll recommend "That was then, This is now" for starters as it's more like a compilation from his 1st 2 solo albums with a couple of new tracks.

For DangerDanger stuff, try getting "Cockroach"...Reb Beach is featured in 1 of the tracks.
