Yeah. Imagine! With improvisation, a common song such as Somewhere over the Rainbow can be played in a few hundred over different ways. Just search youtube.

i like Tommy Emmanuel's rendition of Somewhere Over The Rainbow! he's a guitarist though

ok then.Any good books on starting out on improvisation?i dont intend to take up lessons.Maybe its good also,to be able to improvise and play songs from scores.Versatility eh haha.

In a nutshell...

If you want to learn to play the piano 'properly', then there are no short cuts. Learn the theory/harmony, and learn how to read.

If this seems like too much work, then the simple solution would be

a) pick an easier instrument, or
b) quit. Don't play an instrument, and just enjoy music as a listener.


There are no short cuts to becoming proficient in any field.
