Advice

Oh yeah!!! I saw that vid. It's very very nice.

I saw a pianist improvise Somewhere over the Rainbow with different harmonisation! Lovely!

ok then.Any good books on starting out on improvisation?i dont intend to take up lessons.Maybe its good also,to be able to improvise and play songs from scores.Versatility eh haha.

alternatively, maybe you can consider going back on your decision not to take up lessons, and ask pf to teach you! ;)

Ok guys - how abot we stop beating about the bush?

In a nutshell...

If you want to learn to play the piano 'properly', then there are no short cuts. Learn the theory/harmony, and learn how to read.

If this seems like too much work, then the simple solution would be

a) pick an easier instrument, or
b) quit. Don't play an instrument, and just enjoy music as a listener.

There are no short cuts to becoming proficient in any field.
