Hey people!

I've recently gotten an interest in making music and would like to set up a home studio. I hope i could get some advice regarding what are the equipment i need and what kind of budget i would need? (assuming i dont want too ex as a starting studio) Also, anyone keen in joining this project of mine can PM me :)

answers to most of your starting questions was just recently covered in these 3 topics :

budget? depends on what you're recording. if just guitar/bass/vocals. a mic and an audio interface will suffice.

if drums, Edrums+midi setup vs drum mics/cables/micstands to your audio interface etc will definitely cost more.

will also need to know if you're using mac/pc, what specs and what DAW and how much do you know when it comes to computers in case some people will post intimidating jargons, so we'll take note to bring down more to layman terms.

gd luck

One audio interface with full balance 2 in and 2 out start at $250.
One proven condenser start at $150.
Mic cable not sure as I alway make my own, some will do package and throw in mic cable.
Mic stand about $25?
If you wanna save more, than do package deal.
That from hardware.

For DAW,if you want more that come with audio interface.
Cheapest suite is Logic Pro(25 gig of content) at US$199.
On PC cheapest (suite version), should be Studio One Professional at S$540/++
Recording only, Reaper at US$60.
Or unlimited audio and midi(no third party support), Studio One Free at $0
