Hello fellow guitarists.

im here to share my experiance on my quest in search of the ALKALINE STRINGS! haha meaning won't rust so #@#^&! fast.

my hands sweat abit not really alot but i really cannot use uncoated strings.
used Ernie ball which turned black on 2nd day, Used Daddario Turned black on 2nd day too.

tried ernie stainless steel also rusted. so its pretty HELL for me.

few days ago i tried Dean markley's Blue Steel it held up pretty well though after 4 days its not as shiny but its not black yet i think its gonna rust after a week.

pretty good for a non coated string.

so i would like to ask u guys if anyone here has ACID hands and have found THeir ALKALINE strings? recommend me pls. btw How's GHS Sub Zero Boomers? anyone tried those? pls share...

oh yeah dun recommend me cleartone( had bad experience, 1st pack i bought for $24 open up all had mild rust &^(+*^#@), Ernie ball coated last yr they were really good but idk why this year those packs all rust in less than a month. For Elixers i think their wound strings are PERFECT but it seems that their plain strings aren't coated and they rust on the 2nd day on my acoustic guitar haven tried electric ones though i think they are the same.

Im gonna Try DRs, Daddario's New launched EXP for Electric and GHS sub zero

so guys if u have used these above mentioned strings do tell me how they fair.

Really appreciate ur feedbacks.

I ALWAYS use DR's for the tone. In terms of rust, usage of GFS Fast Fret helps in your maintenance of strings.

I've used b4 GHS Sub Zero Boomers for my Ibanex RG. But they weren't that fantastic i feel. Rusted after 2wks goin to 3wks, despite me wiping them after use. I've got a bit of sweaty hands too esp after playin in a air con room.
Use fastfret to clean it, but its not really working too. Practically useless personally to me.

Recently i changed to ernie ball slinky though. And after playing. i use
Kyser Dr. Stringfellow String Cleaner and Lubricant to clean it and my strings now are able to last me for 2-3mths :)
I think its really abt cleaning the strings properly after use.

Cheers! Peace :)

Well not only i wipe, i use dunlop 65 string conditioner too bro ;)

It actually may not be your hands. It could be the environment.

I mainly experience fast oxidation wtih pure nickel strings. Steel Strings tend to last a lot longer. Now EBMM has the titanium coated strings that might help.

Note, I don't have sweaty palms, and my strings stay shiny for months. But because I keep the guitars in an air-con room, even after my friends who have VERY sweaty palms play the guitars, and I wipe it down, it still takes weeks before they change colour.

So curiously, how do you store your guitars?

try washing your hands with soap or detergent first before playing if possible, when at home, i always do that to prevent my sweaty and acidic hands ruining my strings too fast. i use elixirs btw, they last pretty long, even the non-wound strings.

i hang them on the wall

Same here, cant use Ernie Ball, mine rusted in a day! :S. For me, Elixirs last me about... 3-4 months of playable strings, earnie ball unplayable after... 1 week :S
