Hi anyone here has the vox ac30cc as well??? I just got mine like 2-3 weeks back. Care to share wat have u done to improve the amp?

Just plug it in, play and enjoy? The amp should sound good as it is, No?

Just make sure you warm it up and switch to standby mode before on/off/change guitar etcs, take care of your tube amp.

I'm a AC30 user too .. :D

IMHO, before you start thinking about what can be done to improve the amp, ask yourself what is it about the amp that you dislike? (I'm sure you like the amp thats why you bought it)

Don't fall into the trap of being a "Gear tweaker". I'm one and I've not fully rehab yet.

Lol, the CC series has alot of highs, its too unbearable for me. Its not too bright, but just too much highs. Also, its not v frenly with overdrive pedals n v selective. Some pedals sound v v compressed with it, n v shrill n buzzy.

Wat i did so far is change the tubes, using JJ EL84 n Jan Philips 12at7. Also some guys at vox forum recommended some basic changes, like taking out the bright cap, n change some values of the resistors to make it smoother n sound more like the old ac30.

Did those also, n now its v v nice. Clean is just wonderful, n turning up the gain also sound pretty much along the lines of a marshall. It takes the pedals better after the mod, but i feel nothing beats fender amps for pedals.

I have tried a couple of stock vintage AC30 ....not pedal friendly too !!

The amp gets too hot and nice tones churn at 12 o'clock ...too loud..

But the trick is to tweak a bit here and there on the amp and to try diff dirt pedals to get right mojo ...BD2 was nice with its drive slightly aft 12 o'clock and my MIJ SD1 was superb ...so the verdict >>> not too much drive just a slight push gives a nice crunch .... fuzz was totally whacked

yeah agreed, need to try n test. Heard the hotcakes n bad monkey is gd. This amp is loud, before the mod, there is onli that v small sweet spot. Now, its more capable to producing a wider sweet spot.

Hmm, but the clean is just soild. Guitar straight into amp, luv it.

Oh yes is has nice break up using staright up too ....with dirt pedal lower 'cut' knob and use the normal channel ...

seriously, i don't have problem playing the AC30 in typical HDB room, the sound is warm and sweet playing direct and i don't have to play at ridiculous level to sound good.

Try the Xotic RC booster if you looking for a fuller tone.

most touring bands would set up their ac30 as their clean channel and have another amp for their dirt. Usually along the lines of marshall or mesa boogie!!

Yeap, i use normal channel for the amp's overdrive, sounds much nicer than the TB channel for dirt. But the TB is v nice for chimey cleans, blend them both also not bad. But its LOUD
