A survey on guitars

Yo, I've decided to do a survey on guitars just to see what people think can be improved on.

What aspect of the guitar (taking any standard guitars (eg: strats) you feel can still be improved? The weight? The body design itself? And any other things you can think of? What do you like most and dislike most about the particular design?

Make sure you list out the kind of guitar that you feel can be improved. :P

Just an example:

Guitar: Stratocasters

What do you like most about Strats:
-The single-coil tone
-Easy to maintain

What do you dislike most:
-It's quite heavy
-Relative difficulty in accessing upper frets.

What do you think can be improved on:
-The weight
-Slightly Sculpturing the body.

Add on any other things that you feel is necessary. =)

I thnk you have to be more detailed.

A Survey takes time to formulate - what you are doing is asking for opinions.

Guitar: Ibanez Saber Series

What do you like most about Saber Series:
-comfortable to play
-light weight

What do you dislike most:
-only has 22 frets
-new ones only come with ZR trems

What do you think can be improved on:
-add 2 more frets
-have some made with edge pros

:D

Guitar: Epiphone Dot (yes the ES335 copy)

What do you like most about Strats:
-Bluesy bluesy bluesy
-Rocky rocky rocky too!

What do you dislike most:
-It's quite heavy
-Relative difficulty in accessing upper frets.
-Not punched up enough

What do you think can be improved on:
-Adjust the contours on the back, cos it kinda get's into my tummy...

best contributor gets .....drum roll ......

1 of the objective is that I want to try to come up with something that improves on the playability of a certain guitar. :)

The other is that I'm also curious what some of us think about the guitars nowadays.

may be fruitful, if u r planning to build your own axe.

i dont see much change happening, to builds like Fender Stratocaster or Gibson LP, they've been around for 5 decades now, used by legends and selling well.

Guitar: any model

What do you like most about them:
*everything

What do you dislike most:
*not being able to play them well enough

What do you think can be improved on:
*Me

Why take part in this survey at all:
*to tell others that if you can negotiate with certain parties who are willing to listen (because you are paying them to), you can have anything you want that probably needs no improvements

*so the onus is on the player to practice & improve/ adapt because no amt of $$$ can change his/ her hands/ fingers to adapt to a certain guitar.

Can you cite an example:
*brother Paulo
*he plays very well, has POT guitar (of his specs) to see him through

In reply to others: Thank for the reply so far. :)

In reply to Sub's post:

Whoa, well said sub! :o

Indeed adaptation is priceless. But some just happens to have a preference that somehow makes it more comfortable to play with, no matter how much oneself has adapted to other guitars.
Regardless, very well said. :)

Keep the replies coming. =)

i believe that the standard off-the-shelf offerings of any brand name won't comply to our peculiarities unless there is a way to custom spec certain aspects of it which isn't gonna happen until you get an endorsement deal from the manufacturer.

if you can lay your hands on some reputable spares & assemble a good guitar to your specs then it'd be good 8)

I totally agree with Paulo about Strats and Les Pauls.

However, I do feel that certain aspects about guitars should improve yet others will remain unchanged like the necessity to use strings that wear out and go out of tune no matter what. Also it's pretty much impossible to go 24 frets without compromising the position of the neck pickup which just sounds perfect on 21 or 22 fret 25 1/2 inch scale necks. Although classics will best remain classics I feel the Buzz Feiten Nut system should be standard implementation for all guitars now if not the future. The futuristic Roland VG8 and VG88 still amaze me with the virtual possibilities but I still look forward to real instruments that can incorporate acoustic guitar qualities of hollow and semi hollow bodies which is currently still a challenge to include in solid body designs. Synth pickups and Analog/Digital conversion pickup technology which has bee around since mid 70's is still an exciting idea of possibilities for the future of guitar design and sounds.

Wow, much ideas actually.... Heh :D

Some manufacturers like ESP do make customs to your specs though. If you can think of it, they can make it.

this for example is one of their customs built to some guy's specs, which is an basically an RR with tummy cut, deep cutaway and pearloid pinstripes.

24 frets are always nice, but too bad there's always a lil compromise on the warmness of the neck pup...

but who cares, lets just go 27 frets and use 1 bridge pickup for all situations...

That would be a Hamer Californian ?
you can still squeeze a single coil between the neck and the bridge pickup : )

hehehe why go 27? Might as well go 31 frets just like Uli Jon Roth's Custom Sky Guitar!

Happy Holidays, Seasob's greetings everyone!

:D
