A big problem on my new bought Cort! Finishing problem!

There seems to be a 'weak spot' on the top of the guitar where the paint isn't in contact with the body. I don't know if you guys can understand. It's like those stickers kids have where you PEEL the nice pictures out and stick it on your pencil box. My guitar has almost the same problem here. This 'weak spot', it seems like I could peel the whole finish off from there!

This is a Cort KX Custom bought from Swee Lee on last Saturday. Flamed maple top. This finishing problem is on the top. I wonder if I can ask for a replacement from Swee Lee? Yeah I know I should call them but it's late at night now I'm still shocked to discover this few minutes ago.

It cannot be seen easily. I was caressing the guitar just now then suddenly I felt something strange about the upper horn. I touched touched touched then I came to a spot where I could press the finish DOWN. Then I noticed a tiny gap of maybe 0.2mm between the finish on that spot and the body. Width is roughly 1cm. I don't think many people could have noticed this flaw easily.

If cannot replace also never mind la. Will just let time flush the sadness away. But this guitar plays bloody awesome. It's an old stock in Swee Lee and I had quite a good price for it. $800.

I dun think u can get a refund for the finish (cause it's not the hardwares). I remember that my korean Ibanez, made by cort korea had unpainted parts but lacquered. I went back and couldnt get a replacement.
On the bright side...., U can recognize your guitar if it was mixed up one day or something.

Very few people have Cort and, I can only recognize the guitar by caressing it. :D

To ease your mind:

Do not worry about poly finishes, they won't peel off or break off easily.
I suspect there was some oil or contaminant on the wood before they were spraying. That's why the finish did not adhere to the body.

The finish will not break and fall off, unless you apply rather excessive force.
i.e hitting that exact part on the edge of a table or something.

Its also fortunate that the finish is quite flexible, as you've already found out. So if I were you, if it plays well. I'd keep it.

You'd probably have an oops moment in time where more noticeable damage will occur.

Thanks for the advice but I don't quite get your last phrase. :)

haha, it means, over course of playing, you'd probably knock it against something and mar the finish.

e.g " Turn around to volume up amp... *tak* hits guitar body on table... " $%!@$ "

Just don't keep touching it until it breaks.. Thats what I'd probably do.. itchy fingers haha. Cort makes great guitars IMO, my X-9 is with me for almost 7 years and still sounds and plays great, less the fret wear.
