7 strings

hey fellow musicians.. just wondering whether anyone knows any good 7 string guitars out there other than the usual ibanez universe or RG1527.. i'm getting pretty sick of seeing the epitome of a seven string guitar being an RG1527, though it is a great looking guitar and feels great and all, but seeing it as the so called model of a decent 7 string is getting kinda boring, even wikipedia shows it as a 7 string guitar picture. looking at other brands famous for their seven's, eg. Schecter and all. but do you guys know any other good 7 strings out there around 1.5k? thanks

You need to remember one thing. The ONLY brand famous for 7 strings has always been Ibanez. Mainly due to the the first Universe. Sure, other brands have launched other models so far, but the first ones to really hit the jackpot with modern guitarists has been Ibanez. So it's hard to deviate from that point.

Good 7 strings are basically the same as good 6 string guitars. Everybody has one to offer.

oh yeah.. 24 frets.. floating.. preferably H-S-H or actually H-H will do.. not really into the mid sounds.. will most probably mod it to be able to pop the humbuckers.

Yeah... I'm still deciding whether or not to get one and replace my Ibby or not... Love the JP series, but I think I'm gassing for an Axis or a 20th anniversary Silo...

We see how my Tokyo Test Drive next week comes along! heheheh...:mrgreen:

I've been told that HSH 7 strings are hard to come by... Is that true? Have you managed to find many? I've only seen the Universe and my 1077XL having that config...

That's why we over at EBMM forums are dying for a 7 string Silhouette... heheheh...

I thought Satriani's custom 7 string JS on the G3 dvd was pretty cool... the low end had this nice, rounded, slightly flubbery growl to it. I liked that.
