7-string?

Hey, looking to get myself a 7 string...
Been checking out the usual suspects, but i realized that although i do want a 7, i don't want the body shape to be aggressive. The RG shape is pushing it already, for a gauge. I play mostly christian rock, pop, and some jazz.
Any recommendations? No preferences in pup selection, i play through a couple drives into a Marshall SS or JetCity 20W Tube amp.
Budget preferably under 1.2 grand.

Schecter's Omen-7 is less than $500 @ Davis...

should be in the upper range of $400... for exact price, you have to call & ask the Davis people, i can't remember the exact figures... getting old

Hahah thanks for the recommendation... It doesn't look as aggressive as an RG (to me). I was considering shipping since most stuff available locally were pretty aggressive (Ibanez RGA7, LTD stuff).

he he... if you can accept the Schecter, then you can accept LTD's H-series; the headstock is similar, yes?

Hmm... the LTD looks good, less aggressive than the Schecter... But it's six string! :p
I've looked thru LTDs offerings and it seems they do not have any 7string models...

Just wondering, what implications do a longer scale have?

From a playing point of view the longer scale exterts more tensions on the strings, thats why some people string les pauls with 10s and strats with 9s. I don't know about the technical side but thats just what I notice when playing guitars with different scale length.

apart of the tension of the strings, tone wise, it's less muddy for the 7th string, but playing wise, might stretch your hands a bit more on the frist 5 frets of the guitar. you have to try to see if it suits you, might need some getting used to.

Find a 2nd hand Epiphone Les Paul 7. They are made in Japan, come in sunburst (or something similar) and can be had for around 1.2k or less, with shipping.

You can also look up Rondo Music. They have 7 string strats (SSS / HSS) and teles - not too bad I reckon. Good reviews on sevenstring.org.

Here's my non-metal 7...

It would make the low B string wouldn't feel too floppy but it would affect your higher strings at the same time. it's about finding the balance between the both. try out the Schecters to see if their fret spacing is not too big.
