Picked up something last week. Its a 69' silver face twin reverb.

Here she is sitting pretty in the study. She's as old as me!!

She wasn't working when i first picked her up. Turns out she had some blown capacitors and resistors. (You would expect that for an amp this old). After replacing them, she worked fine. I can't get the volume knob past 2 before my wife starts to complain! Tone heaven!

The OD-3 which i regretted buying initially cause it sounded really bad with my ss amp really sounds wonderful thru the twin.. its very transparent and lets the amp and guitar shine thru.. it punches up the drive without affecting the inherent tone too much. Wonderful. No wonder the guys at the TDPRI forums rave about it all the time. :)

Hey, there r some blackface mods available for ur twin... Suppose to bring u from tone heaven ground floor, to 2nd top floor... Top wld be a real balckface hehe

Great amp u have there, wat tubes u got in there?

i bought it from a guy who said he'd been playing on the amp since he was little because it was his dad's.. he had it re-tubed 2 years back but it died recently and they decided to unload it. Must have blown its caps then..

About what tubes its using, haha i can't make out the wordings on the glass.. i'll take a look again later.. :) I had to pay a visit to wellaudiolab to get the new filter caps cause no one in sim lim tower sold them.

I've read about the blackface mods as well.. i'll play around abit with the amp first.. know anyone who does the mod in singapore?

:)

Wanted to share a few more pics.

This is a shot of the 6L6 powertubes. The make is Haltron.

This is a shot of the speakers with the chassis removed.

The cap work in progress. The old ones were still attached when this shot was taken. The new caps are made by sprague USA. According to Mr Frankie from wellaudiolab, this is the same company that made the original caps for the fender as well. On top of the caps are the 12AT7 and 7025 tubes (6 total). To the left is one of the transformers.

All the electrical work was done by my dad who's a retired electrical engineer. I was just the coolie trying to make myself useful. :) Do not try this at home if you have no training!!

one more of the powertubes. Backboard removed. One of the smaller tubes was removed because it was causing a hissing noise. Have to get it replaced.

ahh just managed to access your photobucket image. think mine is the AA769 circuit. :) yah i searched the whole of the internet for the schematic. Some are blurrer than others-can't make out the wordings even. I found one really nice one though, in PDF format somemore.. hurhur. The ampwares site is also great. lots of links. :)
