3 guitarists in a band?

i personally think the rythem guitar is not nessecery...the rhythm section is traditionally a role filled by the drums and the bass. Then, the melody is taken care of by the guitar.and mostly rythem guitarist use heavy distortion and create a wall of sound...blocking the bassist to be heard
...3 guitars? poor bassist :(

Nightmare!

I hear you can find good deals on used drum machines and bass sequencers from the 80's -- then all the focus can be just on the guitarists without all these other unneccesary instuments crowding the stage and limelight!

lol heck, u can get like 10 guitarists also can... make an ensemble...

haha... 3 guitarist play bass, 3 guitarist play alto, 3 guitarist play treble all with different pickups and then the remaining 1 do some solos...

hmmm dont bands like relient k and hawthorne heights have 3 guitarists??

ive heard them play and it really makes no difference....

what do you all think??

i think relient K rocks.. hahha... dunno y... i just addicted to their songs.. hahah...

anyway i think 3 guitarist is very hard... must really coordinate properly.. but on the other hands it give the band much more things to experient.. example could be ( have not tried this out yet) maybe like one play higher bar chords the other the lower one and the 3rd open note... hahha... dun blame me u sound like shit like i said i also never try.... hahha

hey just got another idea.. you all play like different tones... ahah... i dunno la...

I need to have 7 guitarists....

2 rhythm, panned left and right 100%
2 supporting leads panned left and right 75%
2 leads panned left and right 30%
1 main lead panned center.

Thats why I can't play my pieces live. :(

i prefer to be the only guitarist in the band
i think 3 guitar is impractical, you hafta distribute the parts effectively among 3 guitarist, which means the song is gonna get complex. Soundcheck is gonna be headache too. And most studios and gigs dont provide 3 guitar amps

Harmonize! In thirds, octaves whatever. It makes simple songs sound fantastic :D

But only if you're willing to sit down and plan it all out.
