Do you think that 3 guitarists in a band is too many? 2 will be playing the electric and the other will be playing semi acoustic...

Is this a good idea? And what type of songs can we play? Cos' we're forming a band and don't know whether it is appropriate... Thanks for the advises dudes! :D

there's no right or wrong.. just whether all 3 of u feel good playing together.. if u can gel together.. then u can basically play ani kind of music.. :p .. mibe can start with eagles' hotel cali.? :p

Well bands like Radiohead,Pearl Jam have 3 guitarist...both have their lead singer playing guitar some times...their songs will be a good choice...Havin 3 guitarist also make u more creative in comin up with parts that compliment each other...So in the long run its good as it nutures ur creativity..... 8)

my band has 3 guitarist! haha..one lead, one rythm and one plays acoustic. you can get quite a varying sound..but may have problem when you go jamming..most of the studios are only equipped for 2 guitarist...yeah...

my band has 3 guitarists too... haha...
at first when we first started it was really hard to coordinate everybody...
but now, we're a much tighter guitar section now...
and with 1 lead, 1 rhythm and another guitarist available... we have a very wide range of tonal options...

Add on.

The 3rd can always come up with something to further help make the song sound better, whether it's just rhythm or a small riff here and there with a chorus/phaser/whatever effect he wants. But the amount has to be moderate though, if he tries to overpower the rest then the song will just turn out crappy - overcrowded.
