3-2-1 Synths, Let's Fight!

I thought is was brave of Kurzweil to do that. Things like these are usually done by people not related to the industry. We have people come up with comparisons of samples using the same midi file to trigger them.

What Joel is saying, I believe, is why Kurzweil is doing it. To me, many of their patches do not stand out compared to the others - but then we know from all previous discussions that these things are subjective and people have different preferences. But I think they are brave nevertheless, and it's a useful site for comparisons. Though I'm not sure if it will help Kurzweil at all! They may be shooting themselves in their feet.

Still, it is a very helpful site for us consumers.

I've seen lots of people use Kurzweil gear,
myself only own a Kurzweil microPiano.

But I believe Kurzweil are as good as the other synths
mentioned on the website if not they won't be doing this
public service.

What public service? What war? Make what love? Guys, care to elaborate?
:D

Kurzweil is sponsoring this site...to put up the details and samples of other competitors to compare...so they are doing a public service ??

you know that all the japanese synth makers have been rivals each other for decades.... now it's surprising what kurzweil is trying to do..

Personally, while I'm no big fan of Kurz, I still find that its sounds are generally packed with punch.

I have to admit that keyboard looks and the thought of fatar keybeds do make Kurz distant from my wishlist. But now, with the PC3, it looks tempting as it brings back those M1 days when synths are black and with a 'clean' design layout. I do hope they can make a good comeback. Then again, fatar keys!!!...hope they too have stepped up on QC. :D

Hm...
from direct compare, I can feel that Yamaha's Piano sounds too Tingy (crystal/glassy).
Rolands sounds better.
but these are based on default sounds without tweaking, right?

FANTOM Power!!! :D
It seems that all those samples showcased are the presets. So, it should be unedited unless the testers decide to do otherwise.

One great disappointment is Oasys' piano! :( It has got that detune/funny sound at the attack which reminds me of Trinity's pianos. Really hope that isn't the 500+mb EXs-2 piano they boast. Else, that would be a $10K disappointment.
