Hey all you soft.com people!

I'm Eugene and I'm part of the Temasek Academy's Students Council (TASC). For those who haven't heard, Temasek Academy is Temasek Junior College's Integrated Programme (IP).

In conjunction with our IP Open House, the TASC is organising a gig called Black Lights, which will be held in the TJC Hall on the 21st July, 7pm. It'll consist of 10 competing bands and 2 invited bands, namely "3dash1" and "The Leaven Trait". Competing bands stand to win prizes of $400, $300 and $200 respectively for 1st, 2nd and 3rd prize.

Auditions will be held on the 12th, 13th and 14th June, 9am - 3pm. To those who are interested in making it big, win some money or just want to have the chance of having fun playing on stage, contact me to grab an application form from me. I am available at the following email address.

Hey guys, sorry I didn't reply for so long. Tests been bugging me down. Anyway here's more information about Black Lights:

We're featuring:
The Leaven Trait
3Dash1
Arrowhead
Rock Syndrome
Saw-The-Mice
April Tears
Crimson

The event is being held in TJC Hall. The buses available are 12, 229, 38, 31, 196, 197, 608. The nearest MRT / Bus Interchange to TJC is Bedok Interchange.
Tickets are also sold at the door at the same price, $8 each.

I'm sorry, but that says exceedingly little about the admin of this event.

First of all, we've narrowed the finalist bands down from 10 to 5 because of time constraints. As Blacklights is being held on a Friday night, there will still be school going on at TJC until about 5.30pm on that day, and it will not be plausible if the gig starts before the end of school. Also, TJC is situated in the middle of a housing estate, and 11+pm is about the latest we can go for a concert. We can't have too many police coming down.

And yes, we still have the two invited bands and they are The Leaven Trait and 3dash1. 3dash1 will be opening the event, while The Leaven Trait will be playing midway through.


To the guy from TJC, I'm sorry you had to come all the way to this forum to find out. The publicity for Blacklights in TJC itself was only supposed to begin today, Friday the 7th July. However, if you'd noticed yesterday, all the Temasek Academy students, as well as some members of the staff, were wearing new black and white polos. The front of the shirts had a guitar, with the Blacklights logo, as well as the date printed on them, if you had noticed. Also, Blacklights posters have been put up all over the school. They are the brightly coloured posters with the huge word "Blacklights" written across them.


Blacklights will be held on 21 July 2006, Friday from 7pm onwards. Tickets are available at $8, and they're already selling fast. Besides calling for tickets, you can also email for tickets to blacklights.sc@gmail.com.

Representatives from Temasek Junior College will be heading down to various secondary schools in the East to promote Blacklights, and sell tickets of course. These students will be at the schools this week on Tuesday and Thursday, and will be selling tickets during breaktime. They will be at the following schools:

Cedar Girls' Seconday School (CGSS)
Anglican High School (AHS)
Chung Cheng High School Main (CCHS)

OF COURSE the bands will rock! Why don't you come down to TJC for Blacklights? I guarantee you won't ever regret the decision. Tickets, if there are any left, would be sold at the door, or at this Saturday's Temasek Academy Open House from 10am to 2pm.
