1976 Ludwig Acrolite

slingerland snares and kits look bloody tempting too but i dont know much about them leh.

actually, can buy cymbals off cymbalholic.com as well leh! i'm negotiating a deal with this guy to get either his 15" Zildjian Sweet Hats or K. Zildjian 14" Light Hats.

haha welcome to the high stakes world of buying drums on ebay.. the endless checking and fretting about whether someone will overturn your bid or not..

i've realised that the bids tend to shoot higher during the last 24 hours, so its kinda better that you hold your horses till then. no point bidding with 4 days remaining and worrying about it the entire 4 days.

my adventures on ebay have so far resulted in a late 70s supraphonic(with case, stand and some shell pitting) for USD$200.

Yes. I think the bidding "techniques" and dealing with eBay procedures come with experience.

And so...

Because I played a bad case of sabo, I ended up with another one that costs me half the price of the first one. Long story. But in the end, add in the difference in shipping, the price difference between the two is just $40 SGD.

Anyho, tip of the day: Don't be too gan cheong. Watch the item, wait for the right time, and bid for it. Save whatever and whenever you can! :)

and i daresay that its often more worth it to get a vintage snare drum on ebay than to get a brand new average snare drum..

killerbee after ur feedback abt sending ur acrolite to be set up by nigel, i also a bit gian liao.. what was the damage?

Erm, I actually cleaned the drums myself and took it to Nigel's to get both batter and reso heads, and puresound snare wires.

Because I bought the wires and I didn't know how to set it up, Nigel did it for me for free and tuned the snare for me as well.

Otherwise, I think Nigel charges around $20 for tuning/setup. Can call him up and check with him before you go. :)

Oh, Nigel doesn't carry the vintage ones at the moment.

I got a Blasters and a Custom.

Personally, I like the Blasters better.
