11th Soft Drum Xchange will be at *scape

hahaha. the key to speed double pedalling is control. really. practice around 100bpm first. then slowly go to "sweet spots" like alfe said. 120bpm, 132bpm, 144bpm, 160bpm, 180bpm, and before you know it you'll be at 200bpm.

practicing control is very important, i wasted a lot of time just trying to go fast last time. only now am i beginning to reap the rewards of my practice.

don't worry. for double pedalling crash course, come to next months meetup. :D

Nice meet up thou it was my first time there. Hehehe at least we all are sharing and not shy or stingy abt sharing like some drummers are. Furthermore, I think we should really make the 'newbies' feel welcome. Cos i think there was this one girl who came alone, i think her name was valerie, and no one approach her. hahaha...must be friend-lier...talk more, socialise hahaha...only towards the end then eric came up to her and intro to everyone.

well i was talking to her first actually hehehehe  kekeke....

heheh, where's the piccies (snowchan?)

marc> bro u were great!!!! no worries. it was ok,. we're just giving u the feedback that u've a dirty sound so u're aware of it now. u're one of the few guys that really makes effort to prepare stuffs to share..... pls continue give us more good stuff for next meetup!!!!

acrimonious> noted and thanks for the feedback.. ;) must share a groove/lick at the next meetup !!!

drumset_raf> it was great to have you on saturday!!! i'm still stun by how far u've come by urself  i think the softies drummers really benefited from your tips. PLEASE please come to our next meetup (and future meetups too!!!)

myner> i thought your item on the cymbal is really damn good. We should do a more detail one with the crash and ride (maybe at next meetup??)

To all,

thanks for making the effort to come. It was great seeing a few new faces.

As far as I can remember, mihreth (shirley), drumset_raf (raf), vlrc (valerie) and gambatak's friend Elijah attended this Xchange for the first time. It was great for me that old-timer Shawn (turbochicken) dropped by as well. He wanted to get a official tshirt, so that means we've probably to find out if the numbers can and will add up that we can do a 2nd batch of tshirts (there is a minimum quota)

Thank you especially for your feedback on making Xchange programme better. We'll take your inputs and proceed from there.

Until next month,

HAVE A GOOD DRUMMING TIME !!!

ps. need rodney holmes tab

Whee! I just came back from chalet. Now feeling very tired. Marc has certainly improve! Haha. We all can see. Lennat, the song is Pull Harder on the Strings of your Martyr if I'm not wrong. By Trivium. A very tiring song. You can try Like Light to the Flies or A Gunshot to the Head of Trepedition by them too.

I think drumset raf brought up a very good point on making everyone feel comfortable especially if it's their first time coming to exchange. So let's interact more! :D

personally i feel pull harder on the strings of your martyr is one of the easy trivium song, for double pedalling.

not many fancy foot work patterns...

mainly straight 16ths through.

and its only at 140bpm. :D. should be quite a work out, if you're new to double pedalling.

but i would have to say that gunshot through the head of trepidation is a damn fun song to play if you've already gotten the whole speed + control thing going on.

sorry sorry...was hoping someone with better quality pics would post 1st then i'll just fill in the rest...

ok here goes...for some reason, my phone cam can't zoom while on a hi-res setting, therefore used lo-res.

Btw im Elias and its not elijah hahaha.
Im naturally a shy person so i tend to keep to myself but i was opened up thanks to some friendly souls there.
A cheers out to syamil.
Pls don't ask me to perform unless you really need me to make yourself feel "hey,at least im better than this guy"haha.

meet up was fun!!!and YES i will use the flat ride and the snare!!!!haha
oh yea....hi elias.....syamil here....cheers!!

oh dear acrimonious (elias) bro !!!

sorrie i left u out of the first-timers list, cos i recall u had come for xchanges before.

the elijah i was referring to is gambatak's friend, the one who sat beside him the entire meetup...

cheers!!!

to all newcomers at this meetup, i sincerely hope u all had a good time. if anyone felt neglected, it was unintentional. from my point of view, there were a fair number of new faces and i really wasn't sure if some were friends of other drummers or if they came alone. once i saw others talking to these new faces, i felt assured that they were taken care of.

perhaps at future meet ups, we can have short breaks in between turns at the drum set. cos like plainsman said, it's polite to refrain from talking while someone is playing for all of us. therefore the breaks will allow us to mingle a little more and to let the "oldies" chat up the "newcomers" without disturbing any performance.

in any case, all feedback is welcome as there will always be room for improvement. hope to see all the attendees for this meetup at the next + more of course!!
