volume pot issues?

Hey peeps. Anyone here has ever had issues with volume pot not rolling down smoothly? On the dirt channel, it acts as a on-off switch rather than a volume pot, ie. it does not clean up when rolled down. Is this a problem with the pot itself or the pickups? Thanks in advance!

are you able to roll down the volume smoothly on a clean channel? if yes you might simply be using too much gain in the dirt channel for rolling down smoothly

It's pretty common with cheaper pots. Linear taper pots have this effect too. Just get some CTS audio pots and you should be fine. They're the industry standard for a reason.

thanks for the replies.
Nicholasim: Guitar in question is the Bacchus G-Deluxe HSH model. No idea what pot is in there since I can't find it on their website.
Godsmen: Everything is stock. They put their own in-house pick ups in there.
VidaK: I get the same thing on the clean channel, volume rolls down a bit then just cuts off.
CyanideJunkie: Will check those out, but are there any others you recommend in case those pots exceed my budget? A quick check revealed those may not come in cheap.

Thanks again.
