female drummers

The soundproofing was $1200. And since the contractor is a good friend of my uncle, I got a 50% discount and was also given installment plans. :p

Hey there Girlpants, $1200 for doing some sound proofing is actually not that expensive as compare to those professionally done. Care to share in greater detail what was done to minimise the volume ?

Some pictures would help!

balloon: Now I know why your nick is "Balloon". Hmm... Hahaha. fgl scared already.

Spinninsticks: Hey, i dunno but it sounds expensive to me. lol. Still, as the contractor is my uncle's good friend, I kinda get a special price.
The price depends on the length of the wall/partition, percentage of sound absorption and thickness of the partition (if you wanna build a partition).
I got a door for free but it's not soundproof, though its still good.
And painting is not included - well, you can paint it yourself anyway; I doodled on the inside and wallpaper-ed on the outside.^_^

I dunno how long my wall or partition is but mine is 50% sound absorption, which i think is pretty good enough. Unless you have one hell of a huge guitar amp or you drum like super duper crazy, you might need a higher percentage. ^_^

I didn't see how they built it cos I was at work that day. But my mum told me how it's done.

Maybe I should also do some video recording to show how much the sound has been reduced from the outside. Okay, i will do it soon and load it on youtube.

The partition totally covered to the ceilings, no gaps or whatsoever.

And a diagram?

Hope the photos help, cos I have no idea how to take a photo of a room. There a metal supporter in the partition with foams FYI. So no matter how much you bang yourself on the partition, it won't collaspe. LOL
And eggtrays are put up by me and I'm still not sure if it helps, well....
Let me know if you have questions!! ^_^

girl drummers will absolutely rock the stage like there's no tomorrow!
seriously, when i see girl drummers, i'll get a tiny bit demoralised, BUT i think they have something special that we boys don't.
was thinking about it and thought maybe they produce drum sounds that are a little different than those made by man (or boys) hehe.
that's they way!

Thanks for spending the time and effort! So the room gets stuffy even with aircon ?

Well ,from what I heard, sound proofing for zero sound leakage (100%) can cost you from 10++ k to 20k. So 1.2k for a partial sound proof is pretty worth it. Is 1.2k the discounted price or original price ? lol.

Girlpants:
Wow. 1.2k to get walls constructed that way is cheap really. I reckon that sacrifice of space for the hall is well worth it (at least to you and your bro lol). If only my family would allow me to do something like that to the house! lol.

The egg trays does nothing to help sound reduction though.

I hate the cold so my family can't and did not install any aircon in the house. hahaha all because of me.
But I've put this air refiner and this "fan-like thing that blows cool air" (suddenly forgot the name!:???:) so it doesn't get that stuffy.

100% soundproof? wow. That's expensive.
Then again, there's no fixed price cos it all depend on the length of your wall and percentage of soundproof-ness.
Don't think 100% is necessary right? Unless you're the most hardcorest musician among the most hardcore musicians.

Before the soundproofing was done, I can hear the drums from across the street you know. No kidding. I can hear my dad was drumming to Holy Diver!!!

Egg trays... well, i think they now serves as decoration purpose now. hahahaha.

I could recommend you to the contractor if anyone of you softies interested.
Oh please stop saying $1200 is cheap.
I saved that for a new Schecter guitar:(
but then brothers are more important.:p

Currently, I'm just using normal tile carpets and no complains so far.
But as carpet tends to get dusty very easily and it kinda smell cos the room is stuffy. So I'm thinking of someways to get the floor covered.
I dunno man, maybe wood or something.
But if I layer it with wood and foam then wood, it's gonna like "foamy" to walk on.

I dunno. I ran out of ideas.

Look at the pictures the female drummer is crazy and enjoyable LOL
drum always make people crazy i think:mrgreen:
