Hello folks,

need some help. I have the Zoom H1 that i use to record our jamming sessions.Problem is when i play back the recording there's always too much bass.. everytime when my bassist starts playing the sound gets blurry cos its just too bassy. I've even turned on the low cut and and even placed the recorder as far from the bass as possible its still the same.. Any way to overcome this?

its about placement. the problem you are having may not be due to the direct sound from the bass but more of the vibration that the bass created. Make sure you do not place the recorder on a table or on top of some cabinets.

Place it on a stand, like mic stand with boom, place it high and point the condenser mic pointing straight to the floor. hope this helps.

Maybe the bass amp is really too loud? This is a good time to balance the individual instrument.

Placement is important but when the room is small, the bass frequency will pretty much fill the whole room.
