My first solo that I caught note for note was Men At Work's 'It's a Mistake'...on the a Yamaha folk guitar.
The feeling of the accomplishment, I remember, was so very exhilarating.

lolz...first solo i played wasn't exactly a solo...more like juz playing along...like skink83....heard songs on my frens com, dl it at home n played along to the melody...sorta programmed in me a sense of rhythm and so on 
my 1st solo was high and dry from Radiohead and that was it.

1st solo - Chuck Berry's Johnny Be Goode...
Wanna improve? Play along wt the CD or whatever & practise, practise, practise...and when your tired & fingers are sore ...
put down the guitar and rest ...then tomorrow practise somemore
I have never used them finger excercising thingys .... just plain practise practise practise.... but if it works for U...then by all means.... 8)

my 1st song, rather den solo was Blink 182's All The Small Things den followed by more from blink and greenday! not a big deal though but dat was aft i decided to dump the stupid lessons i took up at yamaha which by now would hv made me a " young old man"!!! haha!
after that i neva really played any sopy solos other den my own which i played in my own band who prefered originals to copies!
well now ive left them, so basically im back where i started off! and erm .... now it would be Knockin On HEavens Door by GnR!

my fes solo.. i think always somewhere or wind of change by scorpions..
build strength in fingers?? i find playin barre chords help.. but playin solo.. i thinhk u need to be smooth and fluent while playin.. n keep in time..
invest in a metronme and play wif it.. timing is very important... even if u can play a nice solo.. playin it off timin.. sounds worst den anything to me..
