i want a david gilmour style boat house/recording studio on a quiet stream in the english countryside where purple flowers grow on the banks and white ducks swim. Its a mostly docked duplex boat, square shaped, with large glass windows through which one can soak inspiration from the calm riverscape.

Hey,

Lets Talk About Your Dream Studio...

Details...Specs...Size...Theme....Equipment....Location...Name...Label....etc.... Lets keep this going!

Ok. I'm just bored waiting for a Protools Course to start in the states. So here's an idea of a real dream studio:

Suite A (Recording/Mixing)

- Big Floorplan Layout designed by the best acoustician money can buy.
- Protools HD 3 system with all my favorite pluggins
- Mac Pro (dual 8-Core microprocessors when they come out :D ) Running latest version of OS X
- D-Control expanded to 80 faders
- Adam S6A MKii flush mounted
- Adam S3A Nearfield
- Aeron or Steelcase Chairs :)

Vocal Chain(s)
- Telefunken Ela M 251AC with AC701 tube
- and every single Blue mic there is
- U.A. LA2A
- Manley and Avalon pres

Studio Personnel
- Serban Ghenea (Kelly Clarkson, N*Sync, Britney Spears, Justin Timberlake, Destiny's Child, LimpBizkit, Xibit etc.. )
- Engineers for Marilyn Manson

Suite B (Composition)

- 1X top end Mac Pro with maxed out to 16GB RAM and 2 TB of internal disk space
- 2X Apple 30" display
- 5X Adam S3A & 1X SUB 12 for 5.1 mixing
- HD 3 Accel just in case
- Fatar 88-key fully weighted keyboard
- Mackie Control fully expanded
- complete Vienna Symphonic Library
- every library on East West :D
- all soft synths on the market
- as many hardware synths the room can fit
- some Gemini hybrid turntables at the back too.

Studio Personnel
- BT
- Vince Clark

Suite C (post)

- THX Certified dubbing stage
- 3X D-control
- HD 3 Accel
- Barco Cinema Film and Digital Projector

Studio Personnel
- Engineers who did Lord of the Rings

I'd also have a couple of suites in between for film editing, animation and compositing but hey this is a local music forum :D

...thought I'd call this 'Overkill Studios'

I'm a 21-yr-old kid with big dreams :)

If that's the case, then you missed out a few essential hardwares in your dream studio - mainly at least 5 Mac Pros and 8-10 PCs hooked up by Midioverlan or FXTeleport. That will also mean you need more than 2x30" Apple Displays! :D

oh oh.. yeah Xsan Storage Network... how could I forget! haha

No need so many screens la... OS X leopard will have 'Spaces' go check that out :) By which time I think the Quad-cores will be out too. Just a matter of how many they will put in per desktop.

Yeah, I saw "Spaces" and I'm really impressed by it. But then some of your software will have to be in PC version - which means unfortunately having monitors running Windows XP/Vista...

Which software?

When I said 'all softsynths on the market' I probably meant ' all softsynths compatible on OS X'
PCs are not part of my dream studio so leave me and my massive hallucination alone!! haha
