This thread is a bit of fun. Working backwards the sound of my super band would be an open driving rock, riff based songs rather than depending upon virtuoso lead breaks.
Guitars
I like Keith Richards solo albums so definitely need him. Where to go to from here?
Keith needs someone he can play off a little bit, and I quite like the idea of a guitarist who can play some slide so I am going to go with Joe Walsh. Joe is quite use to playing with other “lead” guitarists and I quite like “flawed vocalists” so maybe he and Keith could share.
Bass
I like bass players to be low profile and just “keep it together” rather than frustrated lead guitarists. I will go with Juan Nelson even though he can play some tasty attention grabbing funk (check out Ben Harpers fight for your mind live) he seems to be sensitive to the genre. Could give Sting a spot but he tends to be a bit jazz based not sure how he plays more Blues music. Songwritting skills could be handy though.
Keyboard
Stevie Winwood, ok he’s there for his singing but he can play keyboards too. Also a member of the “First Super Group” (Blind Faith)
Drums
I need someone who can play rock blues, but also some reggae and to innovate a bit. I have no real stand out choice but Stuart Copeland from the Police gets the job..
Vocals
I would love to hear Stevie with some decent material again or Keith and Joe could handle it but . If I had the payroll would love to get an early version of Sting. I saw him with the Police in the late 70’s early 80’s and his voice gave me goose bumps. I thought he was going to lift the roof off. He doesn’t seem to push his voice so much these days
I know my band is made up of older guys but for band cohesion I thought this would work better.
