Yamaha Musashi Snare.

Hi everyone,

I did a few research about Snare drums to go along, I stumbled upon a Yamaha Musashi Snare drum which gives amazing sound. I don't know if there's any outlet in Spore sell it. Have anyone here use a Yamaha Musashi snare before? What the experience like? Or anyone knows where I could get them and how much will it cost?.. Thanks for your sharing!

Cheers!

no experience on it but it's available in sg, it'd be available at yamaha itself. if you can't find it there, likely chances are you'll have to buy it online

Used to see it at Yamaha... something like two years ago? I haven't seen any since then.

I have this feeling it's discontinued, heard something like that. Not sure if this is true.

They used to pop on eBay every now and then but I don't see them no more.

If I'm not wrong, Weckl-x owns both the 12" and 13".

Yo Mr. J, you got it right. :D

Project_JAM, I personally think this is one of Yamaha's sleeper snares. A lotta snare in a little package. I'm usually surprised that more people don't have them because they weren't too expensive, I recall they averaged US$140-$200 on ebay, depending on condition and age.

Hardware-wise it's all pretty solid, the only thing that feels a little cheap is the strainer mechanism - I only realised that after having an Anton Fig custom to compare it with, ha.

I can't recall how much they went/go for locally, I got one from the US, the other 2nd-hand from a local drummer (I think it was Chewy..).

I like the attack and crack you get from the oak, but from what I've read, that's what some people don't like about it. The 12" and 13" have quite different characters. In short: The 12" has a lot more pop and more specialized, while the 13" has more body and a wider tuning range.

My 2cts. All the best in your hunt for one!

Ha!

Dude, Chewy let his go at a really really good price! I was half-tempted to get it.

Sounds like I would like the 13", pity I just got a 13" x 5.5" Beech stave.

Nice for sharing mate! Yeah I did few reviews about it, I admired how it gives out the quality of sound, have yet to try it physically, but only on Youtube etc. It was compared some other brands e.g. Tama Artwood, Gretsch, and other Yahama, and Musashi won the comparison. I'm still searching tho, if you guys have any recommends on good snares, do let me know. Appreciate for you kindness! Cheers guys!

I have the 13x6" snare too, which I paired with VH1308STO Vintage Maple Hoops. Very articulate & sensitive snare with good body. It got thumbs up from both jazz and metal fellows.
