Yamaha BB614 or RBX374?

Hello everyone. I decide to start learning bass after seeing what awesomeness it is capable of achieving and also like feeling the strong bass with all that slap and pop stuff. So I am a complete beginner and was recommended the above two buy a friend. Which one is worth the buy? Dont like 2nd hand stuff so:mrgreen:. Thanks for any help given

ask your friend to test them together with you and you shall decide by the tone, weight, etc.

for me, i prefer BB614 for more versatile tone (J and P style PUP).

I like the RBX374's tone.

But like Alan, I would go for the BB614. More versatility for a starting bassist to find out the tone you really want. :mrgreen:

And the BB614 seems to have more mojo to me.

Yeah, in fact my current gear is a BB615 - 5 string version of BB614.

woah nice. i was thinking of getting 5 string too so can play some chords melody stuff. so no real diff between 614 and 615 right? i Think i will get a white one end year.

4 string or 5 string? wider on 4 string i think? cuz less strings.

Fretboard (implied string) spacing and fretboard width are two different things...

The BBs are light years ahead of the lower-end RBX series and provide tremendous value for money. Personally I prefer the 414/415s.. preamps on the active ones weren't to my liking, but it could work well for your tastes.
