Selling a mint (basically new) 2nd generation of Takamine CTP-2 Cool Tube Preamp.

Bought this year from Davis Guitar (receipt still with me) and only used it once or two. CTP-2 was carefully removed from guitar and kept in the box since then.

*Do take note that this is the upgraded version, 2nd generation (Revision 3). Tested it myself and proven with its clean and quiet signal-to-noise output.

The Takamine Cool Tube CTP-2 preamp uses a single 12AU7 running at low voltage which may be blended with the input signal to add warmth. Includes a chromatic tuner which may be calibrated from A438-A445, a shelving/graphic EQ for cutting or boosting bass and treble frequencies, semi-parametric shapeable mid-range control and a mid-cut/boost slider. An auxiliary input jack and volume knob also are included for adding a magnetic pickup or soundboard transducer. Operates on 4 AA batteries which will deliver approximately 24 hours of playing time.

The CTP-2 is identical to the CTP-1 but has the addition of an “artist” switch and a faster “warm-up” time.

Revision 3 is the latest incarnation of the Cool Tube preamp, basically the same as the second revision but now with longer lasting battery life and heavier duty battery tray.

How does it sound like? In general it is like the difference between playing through a good tube amp vs. a transistor amp. The tube produces an even harmonic waveform that preserves and enhances the complex natural tone structure produced by an acoustic guitar. Most players use adjectives like warm, bold, natural and woody to describe it.
