Among the sea of conventional overdrives and delays, this fairly rare gem is still widely considered one of Boss' more interesting and ambitious stompboxes marketed to the general public. The SYB-5 remains one of the very few bass/guitar synthesizers in pedal form.
Instead of just manipulating your input signal with filters so make it sound 'synth-ish', the SYB-5 generates a waveform of your choice depending on the mode it is in, then applies a filter with separate resonance and frequency controls, along with an LFO on some modes to give the synthesized signal some movement (controllable with the rate knob).
This pedal is fairly unique, and is a good tool to have in the arsenal. It is in perfect working condition, good cosmetic condition save some light scuffs on the left side.
