Writing hard rocking songs

Hi, I've been playing guitar for a while but I'd just started writing songs, and its totally hard. Or maybe its just not my strength. But if not:

Any tips on how I should write songs? As in, full songs. The lyrics and melody. Chords, riffs, solos, beats should be a piece of cake after that.

Thanks in advance!

Ps. If this is the wrong place to post this thread, kindly move it and let me know where its been moved? Thanks!

Hmm.

Listen more is one way, but understanding how and why a certain riff rocks would definitely help you create certain unforgettable riffs.

It's quite difficult to teach a person how to write songs. For me I write the melody first then find lyrics to fit in the melody, then come the beats, riffs and solos. Jus remember melody is king. Listen to alot of music and listen to how they arrange their songs and learn a few tricks from this. After melody, arrangement is the next impt thing, as it can make or break ur song. The only way is to keep writing and soon u will find it easier to write. When i started, i find it hard to write too but i kept tryin and now songwritting becomes easier. good luck!

EH... smoking weed?? haha.. nice

well writing songs needs alot of patience, inspiration and feel
and of course comes from your influences, like bands you listen to or wanna sound like who

you way use chords in the song, but please DO NOT COPY the whole entire SONG!
you may find riffs in the song nice, you can change the arrangements of notes and put into your song (or add notes).

songs you compose never need to think, (at least it's what i feel)
writing should come from the heart which also means feeling the song..

that way the song will come out what you want..
hopefully this helps..

good luck!

use ur imagination... try to hum and remember it if its nice or record.
completing a song wun reli last a day or 2. ideas tend to come out after a few days/weeks/months.
unless writers' block or reli suay la.

melody important for the ears. riffing is important for the movements(body). like the feel kind of thing.
arrangement is depends on u.
IMHO, it is reli how creative u can get. start slow. listen to more songs of all genres.
take Incubus-science album 4 example, very creative and different.

always remember the power of the riff. many rock songs use the same progression throughout the whole song (e.g. Runaway by Linkin Park). You can also buy books on songwriting, those from Berklee Press are quite good

Actually my kind of hard rock is more like post-grunge so its kinda mild actually, like Alter Bridge, Creed, etc. I use more chords than riffs actually.

listen to more of their songs!!!!!! learn their fills/solos then can incorporate into your songs. =)

never copy, although the majority of "bands" do that. have your own style. don't always use the 4/4 and standard hierarchy (start, intro, verse, chorus, intro, verse, chorus, outro, end) but of course you have to start there.

there is nothing that is a requirement. melody is not a must. if u stick to the book, u stick to the norm, u stick to the ground, nobody can help u.
