Maybe this is repeated but im just not sure if this is really helpin out new bands.
Just wonderin...
Shud new bands start off playin gigs with sellin tickets????
I mean...we are new and we wanna be sumwhere too.
15 tix is still fine but i find sellin 25 tix on ya first gig, kinda ridiculous.
The reason for us to be in a gig is to be expose....if we r olready known n we play good music,i dun think 25 tix is a hassle but c'mon...or do sum organisers have an ulterior motive?

" 1 Band - 25 tix (300) -What an equation for a new band
to perform on stage for the 1st time."

dude, my band did that last saturday. and we managed to sell all 25 tix. AND put on a great show! thanks to everyone who came. hope you guys had fun. i know i did

hahaha

that's your choice...it's weather you want to sell anot

it's good to see more and more people doing their own gig

so yeah...

now we're not only a musician

we must know everything

maybe in the future new bands havta sell currypuffs or maybe samosa instead of tickets.
or maybe sell cookies or even yakult.
if they're good at selling tickets, maybe they can sell cars and washing machines as well.
and if playing music doesn't work out for them
i bet they can start a career in selling real estates. :)

it's a make money business agree?
but i find gig tickets are a lil too expensive. anything above $10 is just too much. even if it includes one drink.

u put a new band to sell 25 $10 is no problem. but u put them up to such 25 $12-$15 tix.

organisers first, they want to gain not put up a show. that's music business;i don't disagree. but plans if were to sell 30 $10 is still not impossible. just that a single ticket price shouldn't be to expensive.

Well yo'll are free to put up ya opinions n comments still so pls do so...
Coz i still dunnoe IF the organisers are really helpin out new bands to get a platform...
Its more like we r helpin them makin money...although we play F**k up music, they get the money still...
My personal view is,if they really wanna help new bands, tix shudn't be too pricey.
Tix is a must, yes but just dun go to pricey n multiply the tix to 25 or so...
Thats more like we are payin 300 bucks to perform.

mattbella, most organisers dont earn much from this. the bands also do earn commission from tickets sold also if i'm not wrong. and what's wrong if they do earn a bit? its a just reward for all the effort they put in to organise something that big. they have to get the venue, get a soundman, get stage equipments, do publicity, print posters and flyers and also liase with the bands to bring everything together. all these COST MONEY.

and this is done IN THEIR OWN TIME.
most organisers have other jobs other than organising gigs. dont forget that.

as for bands having to pay to play, it does help you get exposure. nothing comes for free. unless you wanna organise it for yourself, in which you'd still have to fork out the money to get everything thats stated above.

one thing i do that usually helps ticket sales are to forgo the comission and sell the tickets at rock bottom prices. i dont mind losing the comission just to showcase what we have.

Hey dood, dun get me wrong...im not talkin bout anythin free.
I definitly noe there's no free lunch anywhere on earth but im just sayin that the price of tix is a 'lil pricey thats all.
Everyone wanna earn...yes...i dun really noe much bout this n thats y im askin.

well, its subjective. whats considered expensive to you? then we'll try and breakdown the cost and give you a clearer picture. :)
