Wireless tech

Hey... I noticed that quite a few bands nowadays use the wireless technology for their guitars. Anybody got experience with such things? Can recommend a system that's available in singapore?

I've been using the AKG PR40 & PT40 set for about a year now. It's a pair of battery powered pocket receiver and transmitter. Very simple to use, it's UHF, so far I've not had any frequency crosstalk and in terms of clarity I find that it doesn't suck tone that badly (or at least my ears can't tell). I got it second hand, but I believe Luthermusic brings them in.

I've used the Samson Airline series too, not long term just a stint but by my counts it seemed really reliable too and in terms of clarity it's 'up there' as well.

Basically you want to look at two things, crosstalk/interference and clarity/signal integrity. I strongly advise you not to go for a cheap set (below 300) and opt for UHFs than VHFs. Also try to get an external powered receiver I find it to be much more convenient so you don't burn through Energizers or Evereadys with every show.

Head to the AKG and Samson websites and have a look yourself.
