hi guys,

please pardon me for my lame and wild idea. i was thinking how i could minimise my drums sound. as we all know, it would cost alot to soundproof. and carpets, curtains do help to a minimal amount. i was thinking about using..

WATER!!

have u guys ever talked underwater? it seems to be very muffled to me. if we could like add a little layer under my drums or around the room, u guys think will it work? ignore problems like leaking, dengue, blar blar.

wat u guys think!?

hey if tt dengue fever thingy bothers u,u can put FISHES in the water so the mosquitoe eggs will be eaten!!!

hmm, wont tt be cool..drumming with FISHES swimming around u...

hehe, well it was just a wild idea.

as in the room is covered with a layer of water. doesn't it fufills the citeria of a room within a room?

NO DENGUE!! no place for them to LAY!! =)

well, first of all, you must understand how does sound behave and how to sound proof a room.

your idea can work provided you can enclose the whole room first. the 'water layer' is the added insulant.

vacuum would be the best insulator. but will be so expensive to construct.

arhx.. lame idea.. i actually tot of putting a layer of water under my bass drum carpet. hoping to minimise..

here are few options but expensive

We need to address two issues here. Make a small plateform for the drum set. minimise the contact of the plateform, with the floor, by raising the platform; and using synthetic rubber foot for the platform. this will prevent the sound tranmission through solid.

Second enclose the room using rockwool. or OC703 [Ovens Corning] sheets.

third DIY make bass traps to absorb all the low frequency sound.
