Coming from working a few sound checks before, the enitre band needs to be >silent< while the soundcrew is doing one guys sound..and when the sound guy asks the bassist to play, dont play 5 E's then stop. Play, play play lots of notes until he tells you to stop. Also remember that they will almost always have you on speakers that you cannot hear very well, so if you crank up the amp like crazy they will lose control over your volume.
